May 10, 2016 – West Virginia and Nebraska Presidential Primaries – Discussion

vote1Today we have the Presidential primaries in West Virginia and Nebraska. Although Donald Trump is generally accepted to be the Republican nominee, it is still important to lock in the nomination by earning delegates.

West Virginia has 34 Republican delegates, which are allocated by Direct Election. Republicans will award 22 at-large delegates, nine delegates based on the winner of the state’s three Congressional districts and three Republican National Committee unpledged delegates.

Nebraska has 36 Republican delegates, and is “winner takes all”.

IF YOU LIVE IN WEST VIRGINIA OR NEBRASKA, PLEASE VOTE!

The West Virginia Republican primary is open to Republicans and Independents. The Nebraska Republican primary is closed. Voters can still vote for Cruz or Kasich in the upcoming primaries.

Real Clear Politics has a good summary of the Republican Party primaries/caucuses: RCP Republican Primaries.

Here are the latest Real Clear Politics polls for West Virginia. Trump has a significant lead (RCP average shows Trump up 35.5 points over Ted Cruz.)  West Virginia Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant said today that 100,962 people cast ballots during the early voting period, setting a record for early voting in a primary election.

RCP has no polls listed for NEBRASKA. Reports are that Trump is a favorite. Because he is now the presumptive nominee, turnout may be down significantly for the primary, and it is not clear how that will affect the race. Nebraska also has early voting, up to 30 days prior to election day, and it isn’t clear how that will affect the results.

And how these Men, and a few women have always been in the thick of military action/service too this great Nation. I lay the gauntlet down to my brothers/sisters; “Our Nation is threatened, our way of life will evaporate before our eyes, the enemy is the within the gates. We must defeat this Beast. So, vote, do it for the Red, White, and Blue”!
