For the safety of the anarchist running around Seattle breaking and burning things, I’ve respectfully requested that ‘she whom shall not be named’ stay indoors tomorrow to minimize chance meetings that won’t go well for anyone involved. At my son’s wedding last night a boy, about 8 I think, asked me what I had on my legs. He had literally never seen hose, nylons, whatever we call them now.

Yeah, I can remember the strange looks we gave the winter warfare instructors when they told us to wear panty hose under our BDUs for cold weather work as they’d be as warm as that bunchy insulated syuff and give us greater freedom of movement. When we sheepishly wentbto the PX to but sone we found the PX folks had thoughtfully put the Rosey McD sizes right over in the guy’s equipment section.

To be fair to the kid, I had on black stockings, so I guess it really did look strange to him. I don’t mind bare legs for casual dresses, but very dressy attire looks better with stockings to me, no matter what your legs look like. However, I think that’s because in my day you just didn’t wear a nice dress without hose.
I used to privately laugh at my mother and aunt, and other women their age. They almost always wore hose, even with jeans. Once, when I was pretty young, I told my sister in law that you could always tell if a woman was over 50 by whether she wore hose with jeans. Back then that was pretty true.

I couldn’t face wearing hose to my son’s wedding that was in June in TN. It was so hot. I worried that I would cause a stir. I don’t think anybody wore hose, not even the bride’s mother. So, nobody even cared.

Used to hear tales of women whom, during the fabric shortages of WW II, would just paint a thin black stripe down the backs of their legs to make it look like they were wearing ‘silk’ stockings.

They had already instituted rolling power blackouts due to their socialist inability to meet public and market demands and there’s a growing food shortage to boot.
Yep, that socialist grasshopper’s always a treat to listen to as long as you have enough ants to toil mindlessly, but when everyone becomes a grasshopper…

Blasted purple martins. They come up from south of the border to live in the free housing we’ve built for them, we make sure they have plenty of food – even hand-feed them at times, care for their young, tidy up after them, all ofhe stuff they’d do for themselves otherwise. In return they attack us as we walk by their/our housing and crap all over my patio. Go figure…

News was showing a clip of African authorities burning numerous huge piles of illegally taken ivory. The commentator said it was being done to show the poachers the futility of their efforts. Number one, the poachers couldn’t care less, thry’ve already been paid, as have the crooked African officials who assisted them. Losers are the Chinese metchants who contracted the tusks.
African officials rolled out the old ‘this will show them the futility of their poaching efforts’ saw. That might have worked had I not seen and heard the same song and dance numerous times over the decades, what this primarily does is gove the African pols thebopportunity to raise their crooked bribe amounts they’ll be asking the Chinese to pay.
