Mika: Ted Cruz Is Pandering | Morning Joe | MSNBC

I don’t really like Mika, but ….  My favorite line: “Why are you trying to stop Trump, if what you’re gonna get is Ted?”

Aside from Cruz’s theatrical voice and obvious need to try and sway people with his verbal gymnastics he has a natural strike against him when it comes to getting people to trust him.

Ted Cruz has problem with his face.

There is a reason that many children and adults are afraid of clowns. We as humans have a natural ability to read expression and it is part of what alerts us to people’s emotions, whether someone is getting angry, whether they are happy or sad and so on. Our ability to read emotions/expressions is part of what keeps us connected to other human beings and safe from angry people. With clowns their painted on faces do not allow us to read their emotions which puts our brain into an immediately cautionary state.

Cruz has a face that does not read well, his eyes are very small, heavily lidded and are deep set, making it difficult to read them, especially when he is feigning passion.

His nose rather than resting just below where 90% of noses rest has a long point which almost makes it looks like it is going to touch his lips, which is genuinely unfortunate because Cruz’s mouth is what really throws the average brain off when we are reading his face and trying to get comfortable with him.

Cruz has a mouth which is almost perpetually turned downward and is at best a straight grimace like structure when he smiles. The dissonance message which Cruz’s smile sends to the average person is that he can not be trusted because we cannot read his emotions and his expressions do not match his words.

Also when Cruz smiles his eyes do not narrow very much and they do not crinkle at the sides, in fact his eyes and mouth often do not mirror what we would normally consider an expression of happiness. It is simply very disconcerting.

When we can’t read someones emotions our brain automatically puts up a caution sign.

So the short story is, if you are creeped out by Cruz, join the club.

PS Guess who has a clown phobia 😉
