Trump campaign manager charged with battery over alleged reporter grab

Jupiter police release video showing Corey Lewandowski grab Michelle Fields

FOX NEWS:

Donald Trump’s campaign manager was charged Tuesday with misdemeanor battery over allegations he grabbed the arm of then-Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields, as the aide maintained his innocence.

The incident occurred after a March 8 press conference at the Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Fla., where Corey Lewandowski was accused by Fields of grabbing her arm as she asked the Republican front-runner a question.

Lewandowski initially denied the incident had taken place, telling Fields over Twitter he had never even met her. Trump also backed Lewandowski, telling reporters a few days later that “everybody said nothing happened. Perhaps she made the story up, I think that’s what happened.”

However, the Jupiter Police Department obtained video from the ballroom that it says parallels Fields’ version of events, and subsequently charged Lewandowski.

The police report says Lewandowski “grabbed Fields left arm with his right hand, causing her to turn and step back.”

The Trump campaign issued a statement Tuesday calling Lewandowski “absolutely innocent.”

I see a throng of people, mostly journalists, flocking around Trump. I see Fields being pulled back for being too close.

She claims she was almost knocked over — video disproves that because she never lost her composure, demeanor, or gait.

She claims she was grabbed so hard it left bruises — video disproves that, becasue right after she was pulled back, she merely kept walking and reporting and using her arms — no wincing, screaming, self-defense, rubbing or holding of her supposedly injured arm, no “get your hands off me” moment.

Journalists in a throng get jostled — it’s part of their milieu. Journalists mobbing someone under SS protection might be more switfly dealt with than an ordinary throng.

Florida statute 784.03 in part states:
(1)(a) The offense of battery occurs when a person:
    1. Actually and intentionally touches or strikes another person against the will of the other;

The “intentional touching” of a standard battery charge has several defenses, one of which is: no battery if the touching was defending someone else — which is what I believe Lewandowski was doing — protecting Trump.

I find the timing suspicious: something to distract the media from delving too deeply into the liar and adulterer Rafael Cruz and his enabler wife Heidi (the GOPe’s Clintons).

Watching this video, after hearing her claim that this was the worst thing that every happened to her other than her father’s death, it is obvious that she (and this is giving her the benefit of the doubt) exaggerated what happened.

Good grief. These people have no pride. I would be ashamed to say something like that. Why is it that strength and composure are no longer valued, and everyone has to have a safe place?

Then go sit in your closet, because the world is full of bumps and bruises. If someone manhandles me, I’m going to do my best to get in a few licks before we get seperated, not go to court, unless it is actually assault and not just a case of grabbing someone’s arm.

I’ve noticed that to the younger liberal/college educated crowd, a lawsuit is something that scares people on TV, so it must work in real life. They file lawsuits in an effort to destroy peoples lives and businesses. Very short sighted and petty. The foolish woman didn’t think through what might happen if someone doesn’t follow what she saw on some 40-minute, TV drama.

  2. All of the headlines are about to be eclipsed.

Here is an easier to read version with highlights.

Proof that Hillary is guilty of inciting civil war in Syria.

Ted Cruz might have just received his reprieve he’s been praying for.

    From Dustin Ulsterman (on Facebook):

FYI: The state prosecutor who just filed assault charges against Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski is a current member of Hillary Clinton’s “Florida Leadership Council” a group of prominent Florida Dems intent on helping her to win that state in the General Election.

    Yes indeed…

Being one who always sees things oddly, I see Lewandoski turning around, sees a reporter too close to Mr. Trump, and being PO’d at the USSS guys for not doing their job. Lewandoski is not even looking at Fields, he is seeing Mr. Trump completely undefended. I doubt Lewandowski even knew who it was, he just saw Mr. Trump’s back undefended. There is always a very tall, slim man, close-cropped white hair, that is always at Mr. Trump’s back right-hand side. Where is he? I do not see him anywhere.

If this were a HuffPo or MSNBC reporter, we would all be having a fit over her being a SJW left-wing feminist. Just because she was at Breitbart does not give her a pass. Little whining wuss, if she were that damaged she should have grabbed Lewandowski’s arm and bruised him back. My GMa used to cry to get her way. Weepy whiney women still make me angry.

I don’t think anyone here is giving her a pass. I agree with your assessment.

Am listening to Levin. He is asking what would a father or brother say about this. Heck, my dad and brother would have asked how hard I slugged him and did I hurt my hand. Levin’s tirades are sounding more and more like Beck, imo, no longer unique or good for a laugh. It’s funny, my 18 yo granddaughter sees this for what it is while my son does not.

I finally found a laugh in this. Have they any idea what we would have done to someone like Fields as Women Marines in Parris Island boot camp?

What Insee is the usual problem with the press, they push as far and as much as they can and scream like little beeatches when their aggressive actions are countered. You watch a perp walk at a courthouse and see how the target is surrounded by the press, his/her movement denied as the circle the target and stop him/her dead in an attempt to corral, stop and harangue.
If the target or the target’s accompaniment dare to push a member of the press out of the way the press passion play begins as the touchee affects an injured posture and other press sing the chorus. As a cop you are taught how to deal firmly but decisiveness with pushy press and most know better than to – uhem – press the issue.
The urge to just kick thevsnotvright out of the ones who go a foot over the limits can be strong but ya gotta be careful. Stepping firmly on a blocking foot, the efge of a hard boot sole in the ankle, a knee in the thigh, all have to be done in a clearly non aggressive manner, one that looks more like an accident caused by the press than the officer teaching them a lesson.

Trump talked about this at his rally. He basically made Fields look like the phony-baloney that she is.

Someone made a pretty good video. I kind of wish Trump would fight fire with fire and file assault charges against her for grabbing his arm.
