Good morning, and a very joyous St. Patrick’s Day to you!
I’m part Irish, and largely a child of the Celts of the British Isles and Western Europe. The music races in my blood, and a bit of the dark skepticism lives in my bones! Even if you aren’t Irish, it’s a good day to celebrate with your Irish friends, and maybe consider the tales of St. Patrick (Padraic) himself.
For hundreds of years, people all over the world have celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. But very little is known about the man whose life the holiday honors. Much of St. Patrick’s story is a mystery, shrouded by centuries of myth and legend. This much we do know:
Just over 1,500 years ago, a young Welsh teenager was stolen away from his family—kidnapped by a band of marauders—and sold into slavery in a foreign land. Years later, he finally managed to escape and make his way home . . . only to feel God calling him to return to the land of his slavery! Patrick was to preach the light of truth to a people lost in darkness: the people of Ireland.
At that time, the Irish were pagans and druids. They worshipped all kinds of gods and spirits and supernatural beings. Their lives were held captive by fear and superstition. So great was the love God gave Patrick for the people of Ireland that he was willing to risk the very real possibility of imprisonment, torture, and death. Earlier attempts to reach the Irish had been unsuccessful. Others had thoroughly failed. But having lived in the land for six years himself, Patrick understood the language, the culture, the customs. He was able to communicate with the people in a way they understood. https://www.crossway.org/tracts/the-tale-of-st-patrick-2574/
So Patrick was a Welshman, who converted the Irish? Even better for me, as one branch of my family comes from Wales! So I offer an Irish blessing to all of you:
These things I warmly wish to you-
Someone to love
Some work to do
A bit o’ sun
A bit o’ cheer
And a guardian angel always near.

How is your grandbaby?
We learned yesterday ours is going to need a little work in the sharing department. A little boy about 3 months older than him was here and he grabbed his shirt and pulled him back to keep him from getting his baby goat. Then he pushed him in the back when he got on his little ramp he plays on in the goat pasture. Then when we let him hold a baby chick, he grabbed it and said, “NO, MY!”
He plays with a little girl a few months older than him and he always shares his toys with her, apparently his animals are a different story.
He was not happy with his NaNa when she made him play nice and share, he kept saying, “NaNa meanie.” lol

😀 😀 😀 LOLOL…..I wonder if it doesn’t have something to do with the male/female thing? Our grandson gets along famously with women of all ages….big, big smiles and waves. However, he’s a bit suspicious of the men and boys, and he makes sure he’s got his favorite toy(s) well in hand. Men….even the young ones….go figure!

When my son was about 2, I was trying to get a day care started. I accepted a little boy who was just starting to walk. His nervous mother who was just going back to work from maternity leave, left and about a half hour later he fell and hit his head on the hearth. Got a big knot. Mother came to take him to the hospital and asked how it happened. My sweet, compassionate son said, “I tripped him. I stuck my foot out and tripped him.” Obviously, it was on purpose. Mother left, took the baby to the hospital, quit her job and stayed home. My son was not one to be jealous and I had other babies around. I never could figure out why he did that.

OMG….I’m trying not to laugh, but I just can’t help myself. But I am happy that the mother decided to stay home with her little one. I wish my daughter would….I lay out the hints on a regular basis. She was told she had to return to work when the baby was only 3 mos. old, and my husband and I just couldn’t bare seeing one so young sent off to some daycare with peeps we didn’t know. Ergo….we rented an apartment near their house, and devoted the past year to his care. I have no regrets….I only miss him to death right now. It’s been two weeks since we returned to the house, but it seems like forever.

He would be doing something he knew he wasn’t supposed to, and he would come and stand in front of me and say, “Mother, see what I’m doing” and grin at me. Can you believe he actually was not a problem teenager and got married right out of Annapolis and is a wonderful husband and father? I knew I had to get him under control when he was little for that to happen. Guess I managed to.

When my grandson was 2 or 3, we made a visit to the Brookfield Zoo, parents, grandson, and his two grandmas. In the children’s zoo, they had a petting area with different animals the children could touch. For some unknown reason, my sweet grandson whacked a bunny rabbit without provocation. Who knows why? We were very embarrassed.

I wonder what the PTB are going to do when they have completely neutralized LE and given the streets over to savages who would sooner throw the PTB into the deep blue sea as get a job. It amazes me that the PTB are that ignorant of history as to not understand that they are and always will be the enemy of their minions and their minions will actually be angrier at them than they have been trained and prodded to be at Trump and Trump supporters.

“The March 8 primary election saw higher than anticipated turnout across Oakland County, as just over 40 percent of registered voters showed up to the polls, up from 20 percent in the 2012 presidential primary election. In [my town] alone, nearly 46% of registered voters submitted a ballot, with 7,194 of the 15,641 voters voting.”
By the way, my city had a 63% turnout in the 2012 Presidential election.

I successfully reinstalled Win8.1 on a friend’s PC today, and it only took it 3 hours or so to finish. Complete wipe and reset. I haven’t done that since WinME.
I tried my best to get rid of the 5,700+ pieces of malware on it (the most I’ve ever seen), but after 14 hours straight, went with the nuclear option. I saved her 4.5 GB of family pictures to a DVD. I’m going over to their house tomorrow to set up a fresh windows install, and am also going to scan the DVD itself with a couple of different programs to see if anything in the photos folder is infected.
What I don’t understand is: how is it possible to reinstall Windows with no DVDs and no internet connection? (I’d be danged if I’d let that thing connect to my network.)
Also, I wonder if I should throw my thumb drive away that I had plugged into it? Can all that crazy malware: rootkits and virii and everything else — can it also infect my thumbdrive? It was empty, and I put six or so anti-malware and other fixer programs on it, and it was plugged into Patient Zero for many hours.
Also, my Android phone. This is the weird bit: yesterday my touch-and-hold-to-unlock lock screen with the background (a Florida Sandhill crane in my folks’ yard) was replaced with a slide-to-unlock screen, totally different, and, more importantly, not even an available OPTION on my phone’s lock screen settings. There is NO slide-to-unlock option available AT ALL on my phone. Can malware jump through WIFI or Bluetooth to my phone? Because it’s not doing it now, it’s back to the old crane screen. I’m scanning my phone for malware now.

I played Crowley’s Adventure on one older than that. 8″ floppies. Love that pic. Look at the lock doors on the 5 1/4″ drives. And those floppies are still write-protected, because no punch-outs.

But seriously. Is the install package contained somewhere on the HDD, or in some sort of flash memory on the motherboard?

Fear of Trump is driving a liberal exodus to Canada
The flood of Trump fearing American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified in the past week, sparking calls for increased patrols to stop the illegal immigration. The Republican Presidential primary campaign is prompting an exodus among left leaning citizens who fear they’ll soon be required to hunt, pray, and live according to conservative ideas about the Constitution.
Canadian border farmers say it’s not uncommon to see dozens of sociology professors, global warming activists, and “green” energy proponents crossing their fields at night. “I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood producer huddled in the barn,” said Southern Manitoba farmer Red Greenfield, whose acreage borders North Dakota. “The producer was cold, exhausted and hungry. He asked me if I could spare a latte and some free-range chicken. When I said I didn’t have any, he left before I even got a chance to show him my screenplay, eh?” In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher fences, but the liberals scaled them. He then installed loudspeakers that blared Rush Limbaugh across the fields, but they just keep coming.
Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals near the Canadian border, pack them into electric cars and drive them across the border where they are simply left to fend for themselves after the battery dies.
“A lot of these people are not prepared for our rugged conditions,” an Ontario border patrolman said. “I found one carload without a single bottle of Perrier drinking water. They did have a nice little Napa Valley cabernet, though, and some kale chips.”
When liberals are caught, they’re sent back across the border, often wailing loudly that they fear assassination from Trump high hairers. Rumors have been circulating about plans being made to build re-education camps where liberals will be forced to drink domestic beer and study the Constitution.
In recent days, liberals have turned to ingenious ways of crossing the border. Some have been disguised as senior citizens taking a bus trip to buy cheap Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a half- dozen young vegans in blue-hair wig disguises, Canadian immigration authorities began stopping buses and quizzing the supposed senior citizens about Perry Como and Rosemary Clooney to prove that they were alive in the ’50s. “If they can’t identify the accordion player on The Lawrence Welk Show, we become very suspicious about their age,” an official said.
Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are creating an organic-broccoli shortage, buying up all the Barbara Streisand c.d.’s, and renting all the Michael Moore movies. “I really feel sorry for American liberals, but the Canadian economy just can’t support them,” an Ottawa resident said. “How many art-history majors does one country need?”

We used to have a truck stop diner nearby, Ma’s Coffee Pot. Smoking was allowed. They had beefalo burgers, and they were amazing, and you could go in at 2:30 in the morning. MI (or fedgov, I don’t know) said “No more smoking in restaurants, except in casinos…”
Ma’s ceased to exist a year later. It was the local watering hole for b’fast food.
Because cigarettes, and freedom, and no non-smoker there gave a crap that the local hard-workers there did.

A bit before I discovered the Tree, and a bit after she and I were regulars at LGF, she told me she was given a prophecy, when I was a short-time regular on her blog — “when you become no longer a dishwasher, all hell would break loose.”
And, if you’re at all familiar with this lady, she’s something else. Something completely different. I stopped commenting at her blog when I found the Tree, because, less (seemingly) crazy. She’s like Barnhardt, I suppose.
I got a new job today, I think. I.T. for a retail store, working in the store itself, and maintaining the whole three-storey bldg.
So look up, a lot.

I don’t know what LGF is but your comment reminded me of a talk a priest gave once. He was talking bit extemporaneously about how we as Christians are called to be the “Salt of the Earth.” He got a funny look on his face and said, “Really the only one who seems to have taken that literally is Lot’s wife.”

How to know Trump is in your head
Is it my imagination… or is Hillary Clinton yelling her speeches lately?
And didn’t Donald Trump start questioning her “stamina” a few months ago?
In the 2D world of politics, those two things are unrelated. But in the 3D world of persuasion, Trump is making Clinton yell herself hoarse to prove she has stamina.
And once she is hoarse and tired from all the yelling, Trump will point out that she lacks stamina.
Yes, he is that good.

What Vox Day said about this yesterday:
Scott Adams explains how Trump is cutting out Hillary’s legs already: [quote from article] I also see the ad as Trump’s way of assuring everyone who has, over the years, seen one Republican after another refuse to put up a real fight, especially when a woman is on the other side: “Don’t worry, I got this.”
And that was just his main post. The comments. They bring me joy.

Is Ted Cruz Eligible to Be President?
The very last thing I want to start is an argument over whether or not Ted Cruz is eligible to be President, because I believe that none of us is qualified to make that decision and that, ultimately, it should be decided by the Supreme Court. We all have opinions, and you know what they say about opinions.
All of that being said, the video that I am attaching is fascinating, because it is two eminent Harvard lawyers debating the question, using the law and their understanding of the law, to come to very different conclusions. If you have the time to watch it (it is almost an hour long), the video is very, very, interesting.

When I get time I will watch it because my DH made me think one night when he said twisting words is how they try to do away with the freedom of religion and right to bear arms and that the founding fathers wrote the Constitution in simple to understand words.

I wish it would go before the SCOTUS. Scalia said it is the one case that none of the justices wanted before them. I agree we all have opinions and mine fluctuates with different opinions and information I read.
In Cruz’s case I think the answer lies in whether his parents were Canadian citizens when he was born. If they were Canadians, then I think the answer is simple, Cruz is not even now a US citizen.

Any Celtic Thunder fans?
Damian McGinity has rejoined the group. (Maybe for a while but I just found out about it right now 🙂 ) He was just a wee lad when they started out and he got big for his britches and felt entitled to adulation of all, including his parents so his folks took him out of Celtic Thunder and George Donaldson (the leader of the group) promised that he would not be let back in the group even at 18 unless he developed his character. Sadly George passed away in 2014 . Damian is back so I hope he has grown into an honorable man.
Lovely voice.

Japan ain’t got one of those.
And thus, Japan is still Japanese: and thus, largely conflict-free.
Diversity is not, nor has it ever been, our strength. Homogeneity is. Or, was.
Diversity leads to atrocity. Every time. Throughout all history.
