That is about as far north as you can go in Michigan, out on the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Just looked at the map. At the very top of the peninsula is a lake called Lake Fanny Hooe. Funny, huh? It’s east of Copper Harbor.
LikeLiked by 3 people
No, it’s not funny. Criminy.
Legend has it Fanny Hooe was the sister-in-law of a young officer assigned to Ft. Wilkins. She arrived at the Fort with the Captain William Alburtis family in 1846.
Stories of her disappearance vary, either insisting she was picking berries outside the Fort and was either lost in the nearby forest, killed and eaten by a bear who resented her intrusion on his berry patch, or she was abducted by an Indian in retaliation for white man’s intrusion on former tribal lands.
More information can be found in the book “The Fanny Hooe Story. . . the passing of a legend” published by the Fort Wilkins Natural History Association. The book is available in our gift shop.

Like I said the other day I don’t think it was just coincidence that after the “secret” meeting of the big honchos or the talks between Bush and Rubio, Cruz and Kasich that Cruz was in Chicago waiting to give his prepared remarks.
This is what I believe, Cruz, Rubio and Kasich all know they cannot win the nomination, they also know if two of three drop out then the other guy will be creamed. So all three are working for the Romney/establishment plan, split the votes to prevent Trump from getting the magic number and then appoint the nominee. I also believe Cruz is stupid, very, very stupid and is like the nerd kid who gets invited to the popular kid’s party and believes they are now one of the popular kids only to find they were using you for their own enjoyment. In other words, he’s been told if he’s in second they will choose him, but they have no plans to do so, even with his promises of working with them afterwards.

Oh no, don’t change the day for me. Besides, I imagine some people will be doing their shopping for the Easter meal and treats that Saturday.
I am actually not planning to cook a thing. It’s a first. I’m just going to enjoy the day and rest. I’m going to the Easter Vigil mass because I am sponsor for someone joining the Church. I am told it lasts about three and a half hours, and it starts at eight. Gotta be there at 5:30 for rehearsals and preparation.
I consider myself a pretty dedicated Catholic but I am kinda dreading that time frame. They say it is a most strikingly beautiful liturgy though, and I’m glad I’ll get to experience it while we have a priest who loves reverent and beautiful liturgy and music. We enter the Church in the dark, signifying the tomb, and then one by one the candles are lit. I am really excited about the symbolism and beauty, but really wondering how I’m going to hold out that long.

I have never understood why scientists have such a problem with God. To put it simply, my faith and reason have not been at odds since I was a teenager. Is it impossible to believe that God created things not randomly, that he wrote order and meaning into the vastness that he created?
Also, the very meaning of faith is that I don’t get proof. I actually believe or I don’t. I happen to think atheists are the ones who put blinders over their eyes. The world has been full of actual, concrete evidence of God since it’s first moments, and God painted a physical I Love You sign that is Eternal when Christ entered human history.
Since the crucifixion, there has been so much recorded evidence, so much written history, and not just by the Church, and there have been so many miracles. Additionally, many of us Catholics believe in many apparitions and works of Mary and the saints, and there is scientific and medical proof with tons of that. Indeed, it is an incredibly rigorous process to find evidence to support miracles in the cause of saints.
And as a book I have been reading stated, how many gnostics died for their faith? How many apostles of the many heresies over the early history of the Church gave their lives to martyrdom? Not too many. I find the blood of the saints to be an eternal testament to the reality of God, but I know that to many it’s the waste of a deluded life. It all depends. Always, one must choose to see with faith, or without it, and even in the choosing, there will ever be doubts and fears to battle with.
But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” 23Jesus said to him, “‘If you can!’ Everything is possible to one who has faith.” 24Then the boy’s father cried out, “I do believe, help my unbelief!”
That’s a prayer I pray a lot too.

From what I have read going back into the 1500’s, it’s been people how could never become rulers of their country that started what became socialism. Part of that was finding any evidence discrediting royal blood or families – that’s the church. Destroy the church and anyone can be in charge.
OK, they got rid of almost all the royals 100+ years ago, but you still have people trying to take power from those that have it regardless of God. Like everything else in socialism, it failed because it’s unrealistic and only based on feelings. It only destroys.

Menagerie, as you put it, “scientists” hate God, is incorrect.
People who worship scientists do. Many scientists have been forced to believe by observed reality. I’d bet most.
No, it’s the atheist people who come up with FB pages called “I F****ing Love Science”, the science fetishists who haven’t the faintest clue what science is who hate God.

A week or so ago I got a like notice from SD on a really old post I did. That was stranger than if it was a new person, I thought.

I was going to comment on a thread last week over there and just before I did, SD wrote to someone how turned off he is by riddle comments. I thought, ‘How many comments have I written in the last two years that must have drove him and others nuts? Maybe that’s why he never likes my posts or comments.”
So I come over here to drive people nuts with half thought out comments and run-on sentences that just never ever seem to end or take a break to allow one to just breath in any air……..
LikeLiked by 6 people
I saw that and was not impressed. SD used to really really talk in riddles. Okay, not riddles, but really obscure phrases and words that were supposed to be leading you to think and making a big light come on in your brain. Frankly, it very rarely worked for me because I simply do not think like he thinks.
Anyhow, saw the comment, snickered a little. He’d probably smile back at my occasional cluelessness. I always loved it when Sharon chimed in, because she would say frankly that she wasn’t seeing the pattern.

There would be nothing for the Friendship to be about; and Friendship must be about something, even if it were only an enthusiasm for dominoes or white mice. An explanation of an example would be to reference something that you have seen or read and speak or write to someone as though they have the same level of knowledge or experience or moreover it was in the forefront of their thoughts. Nobody knows what you’re talking about and it tends to derail conversations.

I bet WP has a plugin or script that can offer a pop-up “Do you know this conversation is several years old and that nobody will likely ever read your reply, except maybe archaeologists a few hundred years from now?”

Actually, what we should do is shut down comments after a period of time. That can be done automatically, except on the Tree we have some of our old posts that we leave open (Prayer Threads), and you can’t make an exception.
LikeLiked by 4 people
I thought there were some threads that were shut down. 😕
LikeLiked by 1 person
There are, but you go into the post and shut it down. What she meant was if we wanted to close a post to comments automatically after a week, a month, or whatever period of time chosen, then it would do it to all of them, including the Prayer Thread and The Chapel. So if you want to turn off comments, it must be done on each individual post.

There are. They are done on a case by base basis. Any thread can have comments shut off by the click of a mouse.

Arguing with someone from two years ago. OMGosh, how funny! Honestly, I don’t know how you (and Wee) do what you do “currently” much less going back in time. I have YUGE respect for you two (and any other mods I don’t know about) … it takes a special person. LOL

Ephesians 4 is a good thing,
Especially the part about not letting the sun go down upon your wrath at the end of 26.
Don’t ever do that. Go to bed praying for people.
I still pray Obama wakes to what his makers did to him.

I’ve spent several months now keeping it off our systems. A lot of people are not happy about the strong arm upgrade from Microsoft.

I actually like Win10. Never tried 8, or 7, or Vista. Been using XP for a long time.
I’ve owned it for about a month on a spanking new PC.
And yet.
Somehow all my dialogs are now inverse, and all my notepad files have black where any blank line exists. But only entire blank lines. I don’t get it, and I never changed any color settings for the UI. Gah.

Not really, though. As far as I can tell, right now, the UI and OS are pretty much what I wish XP had been. Easy learning curve for me, anyway.

Horowitz: How Not To Fight Our Enemies
Some Republicans seem more intent on destroying their allies.
http://www.truthrevolt.org/commentary/horowitz-how-not-fight-our-enemies
Perhaps it is money from the #Never Trump crowd – the extremists who want to thwart the popular vote and fatally split the party – that is behind this perfidy. But as someone who until very recently held high opinions of Rubio and Cruz, I am hoping that it is not too late for somebody to wake them up. I am hoping that somebody says: Cut it out. Come to your senses. Your scorched earth warfare is threatening the very existence of the right. Trump isn’t the enemy. Like you he is opposed to the Iran deal, supports a secure border, recognizes the Islamist threat, wants to reduce taxes and make the country solvent, and is greatly expanding the Republican base. Attempt to beat him at the polls if you think he shouldn’t be president but let the voters decide the result, and respect their decision. The alternative is a fratricidal war that could drive large numbers of conservatives away from the polls, and whose beneficiaries will only be America’s enemies at home and abroad.

” Your scorched earth warfare is threatening the very existence of the right. “
Good. It was fake anyway.
The party system was rejected for the first 20 years of our countries existence on the premise it would only bring self-serving candidates and corruption in the government. There is no left or right. It was artificially created to keep the party system going.
You are either for Trump or you ‘re not. That is the reality.

I see it more as you’re either for or against our country. There is one small chance of saving this country and frankly I’m tired of being nice and understanding.
If after Chicago you cannot see that both parties, and that includes Cruz because you can’t deny he’s thrown in with the establishment regardless of his reasons for doing so, and all globalists, new world order, communists, haters, etc. are scared of one man then you are either blind or stupid or don’t care.

Truth is, they really DON’T want those things. They are just saying they do, and they are afraid Trump does mean what he says.

It’s not so much Trump they hate. He’s the tip of the iceberg. It’s us. The thinking, breathing, demanding accountability and results American voter. The awake, aware, not giving the politicians and media groupies their royal deference. We have finally found a voice to speak for us, but it is because of us that they hate him.
It is an in your face *U to the very people who populate the Republican Party. It is a war on us, I’ve seen it for years. For my part, I see it as Sherman saw the South. I want scorched Earth. I want fields salted, houses burned. I want the Republican apparatus right down to the last party flunky and media kiss azz, from Goldberg to the local fidiot I listened to this morning homeless, figuratively speaking of the Republican “home.”
My vote, my actions, my voice, my works, and my money, will be used to fight the enemy. No delusions.

A History Of Obama’s Violent Rhetoric
During his short time in the American mindset, Barack Obama has used violent rhetoric on several occasions to get his point across. His public use of use language is one of many firsts for this president. Here is a list that is sure to grow as time goes on.

I haven’t read this. Give a gal a clue. Does it start with his first words as a baby, cuz, that’s my guess. Oh, no wait, once upon a time he was hiding all that hatred and those amoebas who currently feel the Bern thought he was gonna unite us all. Now they blame us all that he didn’t. The end, as Weed would say. 😀

I used one for a stepladder today. For removing drop ceiling railing attached to the wall over a 40′ bench. And I used a clean one for three gallons of flat black paint for an airless sprayer. Then I used alternating 22qt containers (see below) for clear water for cleaning sprayer after we painted 12 or so iron trusses.
The guy I work with has one with a canvas insert, and uses it for all his main tools.
It is an amazing invention.
(If Apple got in on this, they’d come out with a three-gallon bucket.)

I just had to share this. Especially the last part where the butler tells a story about Barron.
‘He recalled: “When Baron was two-and-a-half years old I took his breakfast into him. He was sitting in his highchair and he looks at me and he said: ‘Tony! Sit down! We need to talk!'”
He said that moment blew his mind.’ I believe this because my son was like this. At about 18 months, I believe it was, he started calling me “mother”.
