I’m hoping this time tomorrow night we’ll be celebrating. The last phone call I made to those in my state was to a Vietnam Veteran. He put a smile on my face when he told me he was a vet for Trump. He told me how he had just graduated HS when his letter came in the mail that basically said, “Welcome to the Army!” He told me how scared he was, just a kid who did as he was told. He told me it was horrible and he grew up fast, but he felt that he was doing his duty as an American. Then he told some personal stories of what was done to him and said to him when he returned. How confused he was at first with people seeming to hate him for fighting for his country, spitting on him, calling him a baby killer, rapist, murderer, war criminal, wishing death on him.
The betrayal he felt by his government when he learned how they had deserted them after ordering them to war. He said he didn’t want or expect a hero’s welcome but he certainly didn’t expect to be spit on. He told how glad he was these boys were treated with respect by Americans, although they were screwed by their government as well.
He said he had already cast his vote for Trump along with a couple of dozen of his brothers.

I wonder how much a steak costs? The desire for high density population urban life escapes me. I am condemning it, I am just saying that it’s something I can’t relate to. I think I am usually pretty good at mentally jumping the fence and trying to see the other perspective, but my personality does not mesh with urban life, and I personally can’t see the advantages.

I guess I should say I can’t feel the advantages. They don’t appeal to me, but I do know what they are.

Here is a menu from Mike Ditka’s Steak Restaurant.

          http://www.allmenus.com/il/chicago/22714-mike-ditkas-restaurant/menu/

He has a Kobe burger for 16.95 which I think is an average price in Chicago.

Steaks at Ditka’s range from 28.00 to 48.00 dollars, I’ve never been there.

          Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse Steak range 44.00 – 99.00

          http://www.mjshchicago.com/menu

Chicago Cut Steakhouse is popular with locals and has prices in the same range.

One of the oddest things to me about Chicago other than prices, and stacked living is the amount of people who own dogs while living in high rises. And not just small dogs or one dog but all sorts of dogs, I would think it would be very difficult to own and care for a dog living in a high rise but lots of people do it. I have one friend who lives on the north side, in a condo, 11th floor and he has a dog. He works from home though so that gives him more freedom to give the dog the attention and walks it needs.

Good morning, everybody! Breakfast looks good, and I’m hungry! Looks like winter again this morning, and colder, but it’s March now, which makes it seem better (to me, at least). The Detroit Tigers’ home opening is a little over a month away! Brrr!

It’s a political day too, and I’m hoping for a big victory. The Trump haters are seeing it too, and doubling down on the nastiness. Last night over at lucianne.com, I reported a regular for name calling and multiple comments on a post (both forbidden), and nothing was done about it. He called us “trained seals” and “the greatest dupes of modern times”. Another regular called us “useful idiots”.

If you aren’t a regular over there, you won’t realize just how radical comments like this used to be, but have now become routine – and they are getting away with it. Apparently, rules are only for some. I know that some people have abandoned the site because of it.

Anyway, I will continue to hold my temper as best I can, and encourage everyone to VOTE! My turn comes next week, and it looks like my state will also give a win to Trump.

Thou, too, sail on, O Ship of State!
Sail on, O Union, strong and great!
    Humanity with all its fears,
With all the hopes of future years,
Is hanging breathless on thy fate!
We know what Master laid thy keel,
What Workmen wrought thy ribs of steel,
Who made each mast, and sail, and rope,
What anvils rang, what hammers beat,
In what a forge and what a heat
Were shaped the anchors of thy hope!
Fear not each sudden sound and shock,
    ‘Tis of the wave and not the rock;
‘Tis but the flapping of the sail,
And not a rent made by the gale!
In spite of rock and tempest’s roar,
In spite of false lights on the shore,
Sail on, nor fear to breast the sea!
Our hearts, our hopes, are all with thee.
Our hearts, our hopes, our prayers, our tears,
Our faith triumphant o’er our fears,
Are all with thee, -are all with thee!

Today is the 4th anniversary of the death of Andrew Breitbart. Andrew has been quoted as saying that Trump is no conservative, but I wonder what he would say today? If Ben Stein changed his mind about Trump, I wonder if Andrew would do the same? I can’t imagine that he would support the GOPe, so perhaps he would be a Cruz supporter. I just don’t know, but I believe that Andrew could be a pragmatist if that is what was needed. Andrew Breitbart was no “Republican”, but he said in 2012 that if Romney was the nominee, he would support him. In fact, I heard him myself – just a few days before his death – say that he would vote for any of the Republican nominees in order to push back against the Democrat Party. Here’s is his last speech at CPAC:

It seems to me that professional political manipulation has changed the way we perceive words. I know what conservative means to me. It sure means something else, or nothing at all, to the GOP leaders. Therefore the debate over whether Trump is conservative can rage around me and I do not care.

Words can be twisted, and politicians employ an entire class of people to do that, plus many of them have the journalists for free. I don’t pay too much attention to the consensus about conservative, after what Congress has failed to do with a Republican majority. That one fact seems to me evidence that there is no real consensus or meaning of the word in effects, and in results. What else matters?

To me, I like to leave socialist labels where they belong; unused. “Conservative” was originally used as a mocking term for people in one or two French provinces that tried to restore the rule of law (and morals) that had been discarded and dismissed during the French revolution.

My mind takes weird trips. Of late, I have been wondering about the question “Who are you?” Not only does how we answer that say much about us, it leaves us, if we have half a brain, with lasting confusion. In this big wide world, filled with billions of things to identify with, races, religions, nationalities, occupations, hobbies, states of life, age, and possessions, how do we pick among those external things what we call ourselves?

In reality, I believe first and foremost that we cannot ever really answer who we are, second that we ourselves are probably to most inaccurate when it comes to describing who we really are are we are most often who we are pretending to be, and third, it is almost impossible for most of us to have the language skills to communicate who we really are, both as a reflection of interior state and exterior choices.

I cannot answer the question with any satisfaction and certainty. And then there is the fact that who I am today is so different from a year, ten years ago, and yet, much is the same, only developed, deeper, bearing fruit, some of it rotten even.

Nyet, your comments make my brain go haywire. I think I like that.

Menagerie and Nyet you both make me introspective. I agree that defining ourselves is one of the hardest things to do, I can define my beliefs, my passions, what motivates me, my likes and dislikes but who does that make me?

If you told me just 2 years ago that I would be advocating for a candidate who said “Planned Parenthood does great things” I would have said you were crazy, even under the misguided circumstances which Trump seems to be operating in his understanding of PP, 2 years ago that misunderstanding would have made him a forbidden candidate for me.

THIS ^^^^ Is exactly what was done to us as human beings roughly 240 years ago! This was what came out of the philosophical drivel of the great enlightenment. This confusion did not exist before and was specifically designed to create doubt and confusion.

I do have a bit of fun arguing with atheists once in a while, they argue and argue for some form of Darwinism, for an undesigned world evolving from itself. I ask at what point do you choose to disregard science and the laws of nature?

                To which they respond, WHAT?

Yes I believe the earth and the universe itself follow certain known laws of nature and science, each form of matter has to come from another form of matter, none of it has ever been spontaneously created from nothing it is all just changing matter, so what was the first matter, solid, liquid or gas and how do you explain its original being?

A perfect example of how stupid and wasteful government is. Evacuating neighborhoods, calling out the bomb squad for sealed ammunition. Not once, but twice. First time because the homeowner found shotgun shells and the second time because the homeowner found 75 rounds of.40 cal in a sealed box under the house, all left behind by a vet who once owned the house.
I cannot believe a fire chief went on record leaving no doubt to anyone that he is an ignorant fool.

Capt. Troy Balcar of the San Antonio Fire Department said a family member found a sealed box with about 75 rounds of decades-old ammunition underneath the house. He said the rounds are .40 caliber and about 40 years old, based on a date written on the box. Half a dozen nearby homes were evacuated for about three hours.

“This is definitely a big danger, because they’ve been under there so long,” Balcar said. “They’ve rusted, they’ve been exposed to the weather, elements outside so we definitely want to get them disposed of as quickly as possible.”

Get that? It takes 3 hours for the fire department and the bomb squad to remove 75 rounds and make it safe for people to return to their homes. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Iggy’s pearls of wisdom for those who say “never Trump”:
If Trump is the nominee your argument seems to be to cleverly not vote for him to avoid the chance of conservatism somehow being rebranded as no longer a limited government brand.
You mean Reagan, GHWB and particularity W, who had both houses of congress, exploding spending haven’t already done that?
And of course a 7 to 2 lefty majority on SCOTUS after 8 years of Jezebel and Ahab on the throne will sure show those vulgarians what for and who is in charge of this here party. Of course there will no longer be a Constitituion but if there was, by cracky, we’d fight plum hard fer it.

It reminds me of Ghandi’s apparently serious suggestion to the Jews of Europe to thwart Hitler’s evil plan of exterminating them by committing mass suicide.

The first doe was a first timer and I just happened to look out and see one of the dogs near her and knew by their reaction she was in labor. She popped the first one out, turned around and looked at it and took off. I pulled the sack from it’s head and went and grabbed towels to dry it off, while I was doing that she popped another one out and took off. So I got it dried off, carried them both to the barn and put them in the stall, caught her and put her in with them. Luckily, she accepted them without much assistance from me. That’s not always the case, sometimes you have to tie them up and force them to let the babies nurse, sometimes that makes them accept them and sometimes they just won’t accept them no matter what you do. So then you have to milk them and put the babies on a bottle.
The second doe I had to find because I noticed her missing from the herd, she had one and was cleaning it off. She soon had the second and once she had hers cleaned off, I took them and put them in another stall and she followed along.
Then I noticed later she was kicking them off, so I had to milk her a little, sometimes the colostrum right at first causes almost a plug and you have to get that out before they’ll let them nurse.
In a few days they’ll all be turned out into the pasture. Usually though when they start kidding they all start kidding and it’s all over in a few weeks and then it’s babies everywhere.

They are my favorite babies, I can sit and watch them play for hours and because they are fainting goats their hard playing always results in babies falling over everywhere.

Then you also get to play hide ‘n seek because mama goats tell them to hide so when you make your spot checks every day it requires finding their hiding spot.

I love how people copy and paste some political diatribe into the “What’s happening right now, this very instant, while voting is taking place” thread next door, and people are all “Oooooh, that’s so great, can I share that with everyone that doesn’t like me on Facebook? And the plagiarizer is like, “Sure baby, it’s a free blog.”
It’s also in the wrong thread.
