It’s getting so I want to avoid Twitter [close to heresy for me…] The nastiness level is unbelievable–and I don’t GET tweets from Democrats. It’s all from Republicans and Independents.

If it wasn’t for the fact that it occurs entirely in cyberspace, we’d be at the fistfight/wrestling/hit-your-opponent-with-a-2X4 stage now.

Bracelets for gun control… in a building surrounded by security with guns. The irony, it burns. As does the irony of any of the ‘little people’ getting past that security to sully the place with their ‘sweaty selves’ to paraphrase Harry Reid. Any bets on the homeless having been cleared for a 3 mile area?

I thought I mistakenly tuned into the Democratic National Convention coverage.

I’ve never seen so many victims at an event where the average attendee is a millionaire, the red carpet alone costs $30,000 to install, the event costs hundreds of millions of dollars to produce — and the losers take home a gift bag worth $230,000. Hollywood hypocrisy at its finest.

Good morning! Another beautiful day in the neighborhood – high of 50*, partly cloudy. It’s just a bit below freezing right now. All the snow has melted – until more falls, and I’m sure it will before the real warm weather comes to stay. So, for now, the muddy dog prints decorate my kitchen floor whenever the dog goes out to do what dogs do – which is mostly sniffing and patrolling the perimeter ….

Morning Stella ! I’m not allowed to have any bacon seeds or any other farm animals. My husband says I would name them all and we would spend a ton of money feeding them instead of them feeding us. 😀

That’s exactly what happened to a coworker of mine. He would buy animals to raise for future food, and his girlfriend would name them. He even had a pet cow that didn’t give milk.

A dairy farmer friend of mine sold a heifer calf to a couple he went to Church with. Usually he never sold heifers, but they pestered him for 2 years because they wanted a family milk cow. They had it a couple of years and then asked him one day when she was going to start giving milk. For over a year they had been trying to milk her, but she had no milk.
He got a big kick out of that. When he quit laughing at them he explained to them that milk cows must have a calf before they produce milk and then you have to breed them back every year, no calves, no milk. They no longer wanted a milk cow when they learned they would either have to take her to a bull, bring a bull to her or AI her.

When my brother was dairy farming, he thought it was cheating the cows to use AI. He had his own bull for a while (until my niece decided it would be fun to try to ride it).

I know a lot of dairy farmers anymore only AI because they don’t like keeping a bull around.
A lot of show people in cattle and pigs AI as well.
We did that with a few of my daughter’s pigs when she showed.

We prefer though to just keep a boar around and let him do all the work. lol

I name all the goats and pigs and I name the steers we feed out. I like having something to call them when I go feed them. Having a name doesn’t stop them from going into the freezer.

Because you learn how not to. If you can’t learn it then you can’t do this because it comes with a lot of bad times. Just like not every baby animal born is going to make it and neither is every mama animal, some animals are for your own dinner table and others are for other folks’ dinner tables.

That’s not to say you don’t shed tears or get frustrated and sometimes angry because you do. None of us, me especially ever likes to lose a newborn or the mother, but it happens and you move on.
The animals that are not breeders though are meant for food and you just know and accept that.

I’ve lived literally knowing where my food came from. I prefer knowing the meat I put on the table came from animals we cared for or came from us hunting and putting it on the table.
I wish more people experienced it because it would make the life of farmers and ranchers easier, without always having to worry about the environmentalists, animal rights activist and the government. In addition, I believe in our lifetime we will see the day when the S does hit the fan and the majority of people are not going to know how to feed themselves because they are so far removed from their food.

Good morning, it’s a little chilly here this morning, right at 32*, but it’s supposed to be back up in the 70’s today with very little wind. Storms tonight into Tuesday morning, they’re making the chance of hail sound like we’re going to be hit with missiles. Everything is so dramatic these days.

Maybe we can take little man fishing this afternoon when PaPa gets home, it was too windy yesterday to fish.

    As read in the WSJ comments section today’s;
“The political establishment and its mouthpieces, the WSJ, Fox News, etc. have defamed and repeatedly attacked Trump. They are certainly within their right to do so but the reasons are transparent; elites have enriched themselves over the last 40 years by dismantling this country’s economy and outsourcing America’s jobs overseas under the guise of the “global economy”. If that wasn’t enough, the Bircher/Politburo types have conspired to bring in millions of illegal workers and now are displacing white collar jobs with H1B visas.
Since 1979, it is the 0.01% who have enriched themselves and who have fundamentally transformed this country through influence peddling and crafting the laws in their favor. 100 years ago, it took TR to reform this nation and many of his policies mirrored those of Trump (ironically, TR eschewed lobbyists, campaign contributions, advocated for strong foreign policy, etc). The American people have had enough and want to re-establish America’s greatness. “.

    Hey guys,

Need some prayers. My sister was called into work early and told not to wear her uniform and that there is an investigation being conducted. I know she hasn’t done anything wrong and I know that there is someone else that has had some concerns raised. I don’t know who is being investigated. But, I know that in this world that the good people are the ones who get screwed.

Something doesn’t add up. I’m scared and worried.

I was watching an episode of Star Trek Enterprise, Regeneration. It kinda spooked me a little. They come across some beings frozen on a planet. They take them back to a lab and thaw them out. One asks if this was a good idea, “We don’t know anything about this species,” and the other one says, “There’s no reason to assume they’re hostile.” 😯 They are the Borg. It soon became clear they were hostile. Made me think of the muslim terrorist invasion.

I was just finishing reading his blog with tears streaming. Because of my faith I know she’ll be just fine, but he has many rough days ahead, mourning her and raising the baby. I know God will not put more on us than we can bear, but it doesn’t always seem that way. His life doesn’t sound like it’s been an easy life, he had a hard life growing up, his first wife left him with two girls to raise alone and now he’s losing Joey and left with another little girl to raise alone. However, I know that little girl will have a lot of love to give, those precious children are truly a gift from God. She will also give him the strength to get out of bed in the morning and face a new day.

The video on the blog is really special.
