Those are (some of) the last Internet browser versions to work with Windows 2000. Most modern bowsers are developed using current programming tools on current hardware and won’t work on older computers at all. Just doing some hobby related work.
Did you know in 1999, IBM introduced a remote asset tracking method to their notebook computers. It was supposed to make things more convenient for companies. It’s in most modern electronics now.

HA! With IE6 your entire blog is invisible. I was surprised FF12 wouldn’t work. YouTube is perfect, the video’s play and most other websites work too (well, amazon video won’t play). Netscape9 and WordPress seemed fine.

Nyet, may I ask you a question that has nothing to do with what you just said? I keep having a problem with slow loading pages or it just freezes and it says something about a long running script? Why do I keep getting that? I get it everywhere I go pretty much. I have windows 8.1 and IDK what version my internet explorer is. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me, cuz IDK what to do.
LikeLiked by 1 person
It could be a few different things and I get that message over at CTH. There are a lot of programs (scripts) that get downloaded to peoples computers when they browse the Internet. Facebook for example downloads a lot of programs to your computer so that the next time you go there it seems faster. The “scripts” could be trying to connect to another computer elsewhere in the world to show another cat video on your screen and it tries over and over, but that computer is turned off. You could try clearing your browser cache, but if the problem isn’t on your computer that won’t help.

That browser cache, is that when I delete history and all the other stuff it deletes?

It should be.

In the early 1970’s, I remember between Saturday morning cartoons and Sid and Marty Krofft shows, a short PSA would run. Sometimes it was about some fantasy “space shuttle” and other times it was acid rain melting people. I even remember one saying we were overdue for another ice-age.

Good morning! I hope you have a wonderful day, and spend it with the ones you love, if possible, or just thinking about them, if you can’t.
Another cold, sunny, morning here. I think it will be a bit warmer tomorrow (finally!), but the clouds will be back.
I suggested this poem to my daughter when she was married, and it was read as part of their ceremony:
[i carry your heart with me(i carry it in]
By E. E. Cummings
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Anybody here know anything about cars? Mine started acting up yesterday. The steering wheel vibrates slightly, there is a whirring noise that gets MUCH louder when I turn and is coming from the center of the vehicle. It seems pretty ominous to me. The car has 76,000 miles on it and is in good condition otherwise. I am trying to figure out where to have it towed to. 😦
LikeLiked by 2 people
DH says a mechanic – sounds like something loose, bent or scraping. (I, on the other hand, would have said the power steering – since I tend to drive older vehiculars that something is always going out on – and I’ve been there, done that, etc.)
LikeLiked by 2 people
Yes. The power steering………….or the transmission. Hm. I wonder if those are two different things, really. 🙄 Okay. Truth time. Now is when I miss one, actually either, of my ex-husbands. They were both mechanics.

Actually, I managed to get the hood up. The amount of blood loss is negligible at this point. The power steering is different from the transmission, right? Cause I found the thing for the trans fluid.

This video shows adding fluid to a 2003.
I’m posting it so maybe you can locate the reservoir and see the fluid level.
LikeLiked by 2 people
I just want to caution you that all I’m doing is trying to help you figure out what the noise is. I’m not going to tell you to refill or replace anything. You will need to take the car in or get someone there to help you physically. Even adding or changing steering fluid can turn into a huge, expensive mess.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I usually have my service done at Tires Plus. I didn’t know if this was something they could do, or if I needed to take it to Ford. Believe me, I might check the level, but I would never add anything.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Not much of a mechanic myself, but asked one, he said possibly ball joint or CV joint, especially if a curb has been hit.
LikeLiked by 2 people
You know, I think I might have had one of those replaced a year or so ago. This sounded different, if I remember correctly.
LikeLiked by 3 people
Yeah, I was thinking power steering pump myself, especially if it whines more as you turn either way. Sounds like a mechanic is needed, not good. Hope it is minor and not too expensive to repair.
LikeLiked by 2 people
IF it’s just the fluid level and the noise just started in the last 24 hours, hopefully the pump isn’t burnt out.

It might also be something having to do with the suspension, or mechanical parts related to steering.

Might be a sticky brake too. Is a wheel hot to touch after you drive? Be careful maybe tow it to Tires Plus.

First make sure front tire lugnuts are tight. Second, have you driven through any tall deep snow lately? You may have jammed some ice or snow up in engine area for belts to slip and such. Third, If front wheel drive, may have worn velocity joint which is located on one of the drive shafts for the front wheels.

Okay. I’m back. A little poorer, but it could have been a LOT worse. It was the power steering pressure sensor switch. It was under $150 to have that taken care of. But, they checked some other things and one was the fuel filter, so I had them go ahead and fix those things. Oh, I did get a courtesy $5 off. 🙄 I did appreciate that they were willing to stay an hour after they were supposed to close to finish it up for me. 🙂
Crisis averted.

The parsnip (Pastinaca sativa) is a root vegetable closely related to the carrot and parsley. It apparently can make some people projectile vomit within a short amount of time of eating it, causing spouses to enjoy double helpings of chocolate lava cake.

I’m assuming that is the lava cake and not the parsnip. 🙄

You got to watch the stems as well, they cause lots of folks to break out in a rash. I’ll stick to carrots.

I really love vegetables. Almost all of them. But parsnips taste like kerosene smells. Yuk.

My dad used to par boil them, then fry them in butter. I’m telling you, they were delicious, very sweet.

Early in his career Fox News Channel President Roger Ailes was a producer for a daytime talk show, The Mike Douglas Show. Here’s excerpt from his book You Are The Message about a time when Jack Benny appeared on the show:
One of Americas greatest comedians, Jack Benny, taught me about energy. Benny was one of my heroes because he was able to get a laugh just by walking on stage. His timing was perfect. His facial expression was unsurpassed. He was not just a comedian, but also a great comic actor. His strength was not so much in telling jokes as in getting laughs within the parameters of the script, such as a comedy sketch. In over fifty years in show business, he never did anything that was off-color, but he always entertained his audience. Late in his career, when he was quite old, Jack was a guest on The Mike Douglas Show. When my assistant told me he was waiting in my office, I rushed in to meet the great man. I found instead a frail little old man hunched over in a corner of he couch. “How do you do, sir. I’m Roger Ailes. I’m the executive producer.” He looked up weakly, shook my hand, and softly said, “Jack Benny.” He went on, “Tell me ahout your show.” But he was talking in a monotone — very quietly — and I thought, “Oh my God, he’s going to pass away right on the air today.” I explained the show and where his segment would come. He asked, “Do you have a dollar bill?” I said yes. He said, “I’m going to do this thing with Mike using this dollar bill, where I end up getting the dollar.” I said fine. We worked it all out, but I was terrified. I thought, “Maybe I shouldn’t present him because it will be so disillusioning to the American people.” We went down to the studio just before airtime. He was to be on first. We rehearsed his theme song, “Love in Bloom,” with the band, and I showed him where he would enter. All the time he was shuffling along, with the weary steps of an old man. Moments later, it was airtime. Mike Douglas said, “We’ve got a great thrill for you today. Ladies and gentlemen, our special guest, the great Jack Benny.” I held my breath. The band hit “Love In Bloom”. Benny inhaled and energy seemed to enter his body. He looked sideways into the full-length backstage mirror and straightened up. I swear he grew an entire foot. He looked twenty-five years younger. He looked at me, smiled, and winked, and as the doors opened for his entrance, he broke into his famous arm-swinging stride and walked on stage. The real Jack Benny had suddenly appeared right before our eyes. On the show, he was the delightful, brilliant Jack Benny that we knew — age thirty-nine, as he always said — and that we all remember. Benny’s use of energy was a great lesson for me. He had been saving it for the performance, and he knew exactly when to turn it on. And I remember thinking something then that I still teach today. Know when you have to do a good job. Know when you’re on. And anytime you perform, if your energy rises to the occasion, you’ll carry the day.
(February 14 is Jack Benny’s birthday)

Sled dog update. It’s looking like 2016 Yukon Quest will be a close race all the way to the finish. Hugh Neff continues to hold the lead. He arrived at the last checkpoint before the finish about an hour ago. There is a mandatory rest here, about 100 miles from the finish line at White Horse. Brent Sass was about 15 miles behind him, with Allen Moore about 2 miles behind Brent. When they take off fresh, around midnight to 2 am, we’ll see who has the best dogs. Barring unforeseen events–which are all too common in dog mushing–Hugh will likely win. A 15 mile lead is very difficult to make up on a hilly trail. Allen may easily overtake Brent and come in second. {fingers crossed}
Here is a link to a post on Aliy and Allen’s blog, with a good photo of Allen and the lead dogs.

This was from the previous checkpoint earlier today. Allen is totally sleep deprived at this point. Mushers call it “the thousand mile stare”, where you sit and gaze at nothing, just glad to not be moving for a few minutes. For over a week, mushers have been living a schedule of run-4-hours-rest-4-hours, around the clock. And the 4-hour rest is what the dogs get; the musher might get 1 hour. Between cooking food for them, feeding them, rubbing them down to check for injuries, removing booties, putting salve on their pads, replacing booties, the musher has to be completely organized to get it all done, get something to eat himself, and maybe grab an hour’s nap. The physical challenge is huge. The 8-hour rest at Braeburn will help alot. The Iditarod also has an 8-hour rest about 100 miles from the finish line. The dogs arrive to the media blitz at the finish looking a lot peppier. For the Quest, that should be about noon tomorrow, Alaska time.

Does anyone know if the presser is new? I just noticed it earlier today? Any guesses? Maybe Trump is going to file against Cruz to prove that he is a NBC?
