Actually, Dec. 25th is the first day of Christmas. It WAS only an hour past Dec. 25th when I posted that comment, but on the wrong date thread.

Actually it was the West that switched in 1750. Russia didn’t switch calendars until the early 1900’s and even then they kept Christmas and New Years on the original dates. Jan 7th and 14th. I guess they’ve changed New Years to Jan 1, but I think they just party until the 14th.

Good morning Stella, I had a wonderful two days, my folks live on a lake and this is the first year I can remember that it hasn’t been frozen for Christmas, the ice fishermen are beside themselves with grief and the whole industry is taking a huge ecomonic hit.

Iran:
Record 12,000 candidates sign up for Iran’s parliamentary elections; most since 1979 Islamic revolution, state media reports.
TEHERAN (AFP) – More than 12,000 candidates have signed up for Iranian parliamentary elections due to be held in February, the most since the Islamic revolution in 1979, official media said Saturday (Dec 26).
The number of people who registered to stand before a Friday (Dec 25) deadline was up nearly 70 per cent compared with the previous legislative polls in 2012, the interior ministry said.
Women accounted for 11 per cent of the hopefuls for the 290 seats available in the Feb 26 vote, up from eight percent last time.
The proportion of candidates below the age of 50 increased from 67 per cent to 73 per cent.

Europe Needs to Regain Control of its Borders, Germany’s Foreign Minister Says
BERLIN, Dec 26 (Reuters) – Europe needs to regain control of its borders, Germany’s foreign minister was quoted on Saturday as saying, after reports that forged Syrian passports are in the hands of Islamic State militants.
More than a million refugees, many fleeing war and violence in the Middle East, have arrived in Germany this year. Since last month’s Paris attacks, concern has grown that Islamist militants may enter undetected among the influx.
On Tuesday, German media quoted Bavaria’s Interior Minister as saying that refugees with fake Syrian passports have disappeared in Germany and there are grounds for suspicion that they may have had contact with Islamic State militants.

Me too. I feel like I got runned over by reindeer. I want to take down all the Christmas stuff except the two Nativity scenes, but I might be lazy today. After two days of hard work, little sleep, and lots of excitement, I just want a 55 gallon drum of coffee.
Hey Wee, I wonder if we could invent that? Does anyone have a patent on a 55 gallon coffee maker? Maybe we could just upgrade even more and have one of those tanker trucks full of good coffee? With this gang it might last past lunch even.

OMG. I updated Mrs’ T’s computer to the Windows 10 and I do not have a clue WTH all this “new and improved” chit does……or much else. When will these computer dorks realize that most of us dinosaurs do not really want new and improved. I wuz just figgerin’ out XP and have only been on Windows 7 for 4-5 years now. Losin’ my mind. Good news is that I’ll be back in H-town ‘fore momma realizes how jacked up this is. 🙄 🙄

I’ve had to disable the Windows 7 auto update on all our workstations and notebooks since Microsoft keeps slipping Windows 10 upgrade in to the critical update list. I have to block updates to half the applications as well since they seem to want your data on the cloud instead of your hard drive. I know a few people that still use XP for business and are very happy there are no more updates. Their systems no longer regularly crash.

I’ve been avoiding Windows 10. Knowledgeable computer-geek-type friends tell me it spies on you–and that ability can’t be turned off.
I don’t care HOW many naughty lists I’m on already (prob. uncountable)–I don’t need to walk into being spied upon with my eyes open.

It’s like we’ve gone back to PC-DOS and Windows for Workgroups. Actually it’s worse since they keep sneaking the same rejected programs into new patch numbers and updates. Same thing from the hardware vendors too. I’m about ready to institute an air gap between the internet facing and business systems.

I have been searching for information on a young woman who as a 13 year Yemeni girl was the subject of a short documentary, her name is Najmia and sadly I assume she is dead or a slave wife of a Muslim. The only information I can find about her is that 7 months after the short film was made that her father forced her to withdraw from school and wear a burqa.
Anyhow I came across this video from a former Muslim it is very simple, simple enough that I am going to send it to some dopes who think that Islam is a “religion” and that it is peaceful.
