I’ll be watching. I have no voice so I can’t scream at the screen, which is something the other occupants here will appreciate. 🙂

Wow, I think Reince should hand out daisies to go along with his snake oil Kumbayah skit.

    Christie and Jeb all cozy.

Rubio standing like a Miss America candidate.

    Carson with his arms crossed.

And of course Trump was gracious to all of them 🙂

So I just went to CNN to watch on line (since I had too much coffee and can’t nap like I need to – pulling an all nighter) and am hearing them yap about the electronic data collection. It’s just silly. Nothing stopped that they were doing. New technologies are being used. New names. New methods. SMH

I haven’t listened or watched the prior debates (because they aren’t debates). I find it very disappointing how much technical misinformation is out there. I understand it isn’t their job to know the deep details of stuff, but whomever advises them seems to be just as misinformed.

Freedom of speech and a particular method of conveyance are not the same thing.

I just thoroughly enjoy deciphering personalities and I love watching Trump make their heads spin in a way that would rival the Exorcist babe.

Someone needs to have Trump stop using the term “Internet”. It’s a bunch of computers linked together via a network. “The Cloud” is just a marketing term for the “Internet”. It’s the same bunch of computers linked together, except you know even less where the data physically is sitting. Saying “We need to close down the enemy internet” is technically ambiguous to the Nth degree.

Just as a national security rant, we need to stop the offshore cloud storage data center locations. We need to bring computer chip manufacturing back into the country. Information technology HB-1 visa work needs to be suspended. Offshore customer support call centers also need to be stopped.

I consider myself a technology buffoon. But I do understand that Trump uses the word “internet” far too loosely. Anyhow I get that you can’t take pieces of the internet away like you can remove a physical thing. It sounds like we can at lest control some of the physical pieces that go into the network.

I don’t have a solution for keeping people who want to kill us off “a bunch of computers linked together via a network” other than to bomb the shit out of them 🙂

It sounds like you have some good first steps that would help us rein in the wind.

It’s not necessarily necessary to bomb anything to disrupt communications of a computer network. Most of todays networks are controlled by other computers that don’t do anything other than control the network. They are still computers though, based upon the same technology of the computers you want to interrupt.

Our technology industries have become less and less mindful of security in the last 20 years. Which goes back to my IT education rant.

Thanks Nyet, I agree. My comment was more to the point that the computers aren’t the problem the people who want to kill us are the problem. They were barbarians long before they used computers to promote their hate and savagery.

I appreciate your rant and your knowledge, if there is a way to make us safer and disrupt their use of computers I am all for it.

Arrrggggh! We, ourselves created the security problems we face in the 21st century!

    Rant on:
Get the software/hardware vendors out of the education system! The course materials are geared to selling more products and licenses four or more years in the future. It’s a revenue stream for the vendor. Almost all physical research and development is done offshore now.
We haven’t produced skilled it workers in years! We produce people that can program a microwave oven to do a specific task. Warm a cup of coffee.
