The two Afghan men were last seen on Friday, and were reported missing on Monday morning. Officials believe that they probably just walked away so they won’t be sent back home, but other – more alarming – scenarios are possible, particularly in light of recent events in Europe and the United States.
“With all that’s going on in the world right now, and all that’s going on in our country, it’s a little alarming that they would walk away and nobody knows where they went,” said veteran Phillip Robinson.
Air Force officials said the men were two of 23 Afghan air force personnel at the base learning to fly and maintain an A-29 fighter plane, Mirwais Kohistani and Shirzad Rohullah ….
In a statement, the Air Force said the Afghans were screened prior to showing up in the United States and the two who are missing do not pose any apparent threat.
“I would just caution that that assessment is as good as what we know,” said Georgia State University professor Robert Friedmann.
Friedmann believes the men most likely walked away because they were afraid to return to a harder life back home.
“But there’s also the option that they have gone underground because of some radicalization that the military was not aware of,” Friedmann said.
Homeland Security has taken the lead in the search, working with military and local law enforcement.

Aaaaand…. these 2 clowns are still on the loose as of 19 December.
Good work, FBI, ICE, DHS, AFOSI.
Where do we find such men and women?
Would it not be hilarious if these 2 were either selling used cars or driving cabs in D.C. right now?
Hilarious, AND sad.
J. Edgar Hoover would have not let this go on.

I was thinking about them this afternoon. Not much news about it since the original reports.

I thought I heard they were found at or near Niagara falls.

Did they? I wondered if they were headed to Canada, like the last two who were caught.

That would be interesting. Canada has a very accommodating stance to any invader who can help destroy what was once a unique, Anglo sourced culture (except Quebec).

They were still missing as of Dec. 18. I didn’t see any info about them being caught. Their visas have been revoked.

I don’t recall where I heard that, perhaps I’m mixing up something I heard on the radio.

My mistake, different event.
“… In September of 2014, three Afghan National Army soldiers disappeared during a training exercise in Cape Cod, and were later found trying to cross into Canada near Niagara Falls, officials said. …”

That’s the incident I was thinking of.

Sunk without trace. I wonder why that is? Not looking too hard, perhaps? Or are the two just really, really good at hiding–for some reason or other…?
Things that fall off the radar are disturbing.

“VALDOSTA, Ga. — The search for two missing Afghan airmen from Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta stretched on for another week, as investigators tried to piece together where they could have disappeared to”.
“11Alive News learned Wednesday that visas for both men, Mirwais Kohistani and Shirzad Rohulla, were revoked Friday. The two have been in the U.S. since February learning how to maintain fighter planes so they could replace U.S. soldiers already in Afghanistan.”
