Okay, now that the pressure is over, Good morning everyone. So much to do before turkey day. And why is it that extra things always pop up having to be done on the busiest days?

Mornin’ Menage! IKR?? I’m sitting here plotting what to do first….. we’re only taking all the sides over to the kids’ house tomorrow, but they’ve planned for 12. Lotta food….

Good morning, Menagerie! As WeeWeed says, IKR? Still so much to do. I just don’t have the stamina I used to have, and things take so much longer to do, it seems.

I worked all day yesterday, and so much still needs to be done. And you are right, I’m slow. But the work waits for us, doesn’t it? It’s still there when we’re rested up.

My shopping is done. If I get the vacuuming done and the bedrooms and bathroom ready for guests, I’m good. Jen is bringing the pies, and I’ll do the cranberry sauce, turkey stock for dressing and gravy, and some veg today or tonight.

You are way ahead of me, and I have to take my grandson to the doctor and speech therapy. However, I only really have to cook two pies and a big sweet potato casserole. The rest can wait if it has to, since the dinner is at a brother in law’s house.

We go to my mom’s. 16 people and loads of food. We are bringing sides and wine. Today we bake, cook and prepare. We will make everything today.

I haven’t even started cooking yet. I’ll get around to it sometime today and then like usual will be up half the night and as soon as chores get done in the morning will finish and have everything on the table by noon. I always find myself behind.

My husband always made the turkey fly for our kids, something even as teens they laughed at the flying turkey in the kitchen. He’s so excited that he has a grandchild this year to fly the turkey for.lol

We have a smaller crowd this year, just our kids and my sister and her family, then a couple of older folks we know who live alone and all of their kids and grandkids live out of state and don’t come home.

I’m behind….. sigh….. got eggs done to devil in the a.m., a peck of veggies peeled and strung (celery 🙄 ), the meanest cream cheese stuffing in the damworld made and mixed, pies working – mashed potatoes, pot of pinto beans tomorrow a.m. and I forgot what else. I’m slower than I used to be…. and tireder.
        I’ma have a beer.

Mornin’ all. Coffee’s on. Would’ve been here sooner but I had to train a new squirrel this mornin’ to keep this Commodore 64 going. 😉

Just took the civics test and scored 94. I think one that threw me asked what party the Preezy belonged to and I should’ve answered the commie party. 😯

I was watching the news and saw again this year that people are still stupid, already camping out for Black Friday. Is there honestly anything you need bad enough to miss Thanksgiving for? Heck, there has never been anything I needed bad enough to even go shopping on Black Friday, much less sleep on a sidewalk for two nights.

Long before the internet, I still avoided Black Friday.
I do some online shopping but I’m not a huge fan of doing all of it online.

I’m doing good this year though, all of these stores have brought back layaway. I’ve always loved layaway, no having to find a place to keep stuff, pick it up a few weeks before Christmas before the big rush.
So I’m already about done, it’s all 75% paid for and their keeping it stored for me.lol
Have a few things I have to order online and then I’m finished.

The hardest thing this year was controlling myself and my husband on buying too much for the baby.

Ha! Wait until that baby is older. Then it really gets hard. It’s not so much that you want to spoil them, it’s just that it’s such fun to play with them and watch their joy. Only knowing that we can squash that joy and turn it into something not so pretty by indulging too much keeps us in line. Well, that and not having lots of money. 😀

I have been a big fan of online shopping before it was the thing. I am with you on the Black Friday mess. Nothing could induce me to go. Never have, never will. People are crazy, most of the sales are on less valuable merchandise, and I am not buying so much stuff that the savings would be worth the misery.

I try to buy a little all year because I don’t have the budget for all at once. When my kids were little layaway made Christmas possible for us. My daughter in law uses it too.

My daughter gave me a plaque that says, “Many a child is spoiled because nobody will spank Grandma.”
A lady my daughter knows has two grandkids that are 3 and 1. My daughter was telling her that she keeps telling his NaNa and PaPa to not buy him a bunch of presents. She told my daughter that her son told her this year she could only get them one present each this year after going way overboard last year. She said she bought each of them a 6v car for Christmas this year.lol

I loved layaway when my kids were little, not only did I not have to hide presents or worry about paper getting ripped, but I could start in October and pay on it each week and not spend a fortune all at once. We didn’t buy our kids much during the year, but we always tried to make Christmas and birthdays special.

I hope everyone got all their preparations done. I did my shopping and preparing and ended up adding a roasted vegetable medley to my portion. We all always make more than originally planned and end up with too much food which is always a god thing. The house smells delicious.

Get well wishes to Nye 🙂
