When it’s cold like this here, it’s mostly due to there being no clouds to hold heat in. No clouds = no rain / snow. Since most our rain is from the warm Pacific ocean, our clouds bring warm air = no snow. Once in a blue moon the cold air flow from Alaska slips past the Cascade mountains at the same time we have rain. Then we get snow.

          Good morning Stella.

I have a funny story this morning. Remember the other day when were discussing the old rotary phones? Well, this morning my daughter shared a picture of one and made the comment that most of the people her age probably had no clue what it is. One of her friends commented: I’ve saw pictures before and my great grandmother had one up on a shelf. I get how you talk on them, but I’ve never understood how you call someone.
He got it explained to him then my sister threw him another curve when she brought up party lines.lol

Can you imagine today’s kids on a party line? Those who each have their own phone?

It’s getting unreal when it comes to kids with phones. I know a young lady who is a Kindergarten teacher and she says that about 3/4 of her kids have cellphones.

I know I’m old fashioned and some say stuck in my ways, but I think cellphones are making kids stupid and it would do kids some good if they weren’t always connected.

It would do some parents good to have some common sense. I’d not be buying kids a phone. That would be one of those things they had to work to earn, when they were old enough. Unless maybe there was a situation where you needed to be able to call them, or them call you for rides or something.

We all lived before we had cell phones. I originally got mine because I was often on the road late at night. Then it became my business phone. Now it’s often an aggravation. Except for getting pictures of the grandchildren, huh?

I agree with all of the above. My older grandson got his when he entered middle school and was walking to school every day (safety thing).

I can understand if they’re teenagers wanting them to have a phone as there aren’t payphones like they were when we were kids. However, making sure they have the latest, greatest smart phone is ridiculous. Honestly though, what do grade school kids need with a phone?

I have several nieces and nephews whose young kids have cellphones and it drives me insane. What’s funny is most of them love to come to my house because they like the animals and everyone knows my rules; no phones, no video games, no tablets, etc. They still ask to come back all the time, even those who balked the first time of me confiscating all electronic devices until they went home.
