A word to the weird and stupid punks. We don’t much like it if you want to camp out on a TX college campus. We didn’t knock any heads…………this time………but we might the next time.

This is a bit drastic and written by a woman. One possible solution to the mess we’re in. Repeal the 19th amendment. Even if you don’t read all the article, take a look at the table near the bottom of the post. It shows support for R/D by married/unmarried and m/f. Baffling.

Every day brings more evidence that it’s time to repeal the 19th Amendment – American Thinker

This picture of Abe Lincoln was recently discovered, and some nice person shared it on FB. It lists the photographer as a gentleman by the name of Keith Richards. Fascinating!

National Historic Marker Day – I like them, never thought to be appreciative

National Dissertation Day – been a lot of publicity about these recently

National South Dakota Day – never been there

National Help a Horse Day – horse charities will appreciate you

National Hairball Awareness Day – I find my awareness rises only when I hear one coming up, or worse step in one…

National Kids and Pets Day – good day to adopt

National Richter Scale Day – good to remember someone who helped quantify the world. Prefer we don’t need the scale often…

National Pretzel Day – warm, soft pretzels. Not the hard ones in bags.

Good day, Czarina. I like historical markers, too.

Supporting kids and pet horses in South Dakota is always very worthwhile…

Mornin’ All. It is 48* and a little humid here. It rained a little last night, which we sorely needed.

Not much news from up here. I am not going to see my grandchildren today. They are castrating piglets. I figured I’d pass. Oh, and I am sure the girls are not helping with the castration. But, it is at a neighbor’s house and they have children to play with.

Well, hope the weather is good where you are.

I imagine the castration is by rubber banding their little testicles. Not messy.

Anyway, have a nice day, and I hope that you see the grandkids sooner rather than later!

Wow, aus, that’s enough to make me go vegan!

Though suspecting that such a painful procedure–if performed without anesthesia as used for other mammals–is to reduce aggressiveness, I still looked it up….

“Castration of male piglets is a common practice in many countries and the vast majority of male piglets in the United States are castrated. Castration is performed to avoid boar taint in the meat of sexually mature male pigs and to reduce aggression toward other pigs and caretakers.”

My apologies if I sound too Karenish here.

No need for apologies. The whole idea turns my stomach, but then, I don’t have to do it. And, I don’t eat pork or beef. However, I do like chicken and I don’t want to be a part of killing and dressing one of them. I am glad though, that my DIL is tough and can handle all that stuff because the time may come, and I think it is coming soon, when she may need to be able to do it to survive and to fee her children.

Survival skills are something the younger generations will likely have to use in the coming years, especially if Biden is re-elected (HORRIBLE thought!).

Our grandparents were used to doing all these things to survive. They, along with our parents went through the 1930s Depression and then the food shortages of the war years. Bless all of them for their hardiness.

The fact is that throughout most of human history, we raised and killed our own livestock. Heck, our neighbors were farmers, and I witnessed many a chicken kill and, although I didn’t witness it, they also killed and ate their own pork and beef. We had laying chickens when I was ages 9-15, and my parents killed and prepared chickens for stewing.

What am I saying? That it was a fact of life until about 60 or 70 years ago. If you had been raised seeing animals raised and harvested, you would think nothing of it. And it is most humane to raise your meat on your own farm and harvest them there. Taking a cow or pig in a truck to slaughter raises their anxiety, while dispatching an animal with one shot to the head in familiar surroundings means that they were never mistreated.

I agree. It is just that I did not witness any of that growing up so I am not used to it.

On the Justin Rhodes (YouTube) farm, they name their animals, then they call the meat by the same name. Recent example: Studmuffin hamburger!

                  😀 😀 😀

I grew up with a number of cousins who showed livestock in 4-H. They loved the process until it was auction time. I saw male cousins 14-15 years old cry like a baby when they sold a calf at the sale. They got attached when they showed these animals. They raised them and worked them every day almost from birth until that last day. I guess that’s one of the things that bothers me about these nutjob PETA people who have no idea what any of this is all about. They just have to protest something….

I don’t know for sure, but I think that raising 4-H livestock is a bit different, because a child raises a particular animal, so it’s more like a pet than one of a herd on a farm. Don’t you think?

It’s no secret Harvey Weinstein is a despicable human being. But that doesn’t mean prosecutors get free reign.

I can’t say this is the dumbest thing I’ve ever read, but I can say that I’m dumber for having read it, and now I must share it with you. The Tolly-ban was just invited to a UN soiree’ to discuss the impacts of glo-bull warming, er, climate change. It just proves what we all know and that is that none of these people are serious about anything except lining their pockets. These people don’t even care who it is. If you can get some, get it.
