Desserts for the 2025 Thanksgiving holiday!

I have always believed that Thanksgiving dessert is pie, including pumpkin, but it doesn’t have to be. My daughter and grandson (the culinary school student) bake pies for dinner at my house, but sometimes I make something too.

When my mother was with us for Thanksgiving, we had to have Jello with banana slices. Her reasoning was that everyone was too full after dinner to have pie, but there was enough room for Jello. She prepared it in some really pretty amber-colored sherbet glasses, and topped them with whipped cream. I still have the amber-colored sherbet glasses, but I’m afraid that the Jello has gone by the wayside in my house!

Election Fraud in my part of the world …

Hamtramck is the only Muslim-majority city in the United States, and one of two cities in Michigan that have majority Muslim mayors and city council members. Hamtramck is located roughly 5 miles north of downtown Detroit, and is surrounded by Detroit.

Hamtramck used to be the center of Polish-American culture in Michigan. No longer.

In 2022, Hamtramck became the first city with an all Muslim city council. The main road was renamed to Palestine Avenue, and mayor Ghalib’s post-election party was attended by men only, as segregation of the sexes remains traditional.

The city of Hamtramck is about 7 miles and 15 minutes from my house.

More SNAP Fraud

SNAP Fraud: A $50,000 EBT Card, One Person Getting Benefits from 6 Different States – This Is What Taxpayers Are Funding

If there’s any good that’s come from the government shutdown, it’s exposing all the fraud being committed to exploit the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

To be sure, there are millions of needy Americans who were hurting from being deprived of SNAP as they tried to support children and keep their families from going hungry. This is not about them. This is about the other people — the individuals who dip into this program unjustly at the expense of the taxpayer.

Just the News reported that Department of Agriculture Deputy Secretary Steven Vaden has indicated his agency is engaging in data collection relating to SNAP across several states to see where funds for the program are going.
