I’m a 10 percenter – member of the left handers’ club. Are you?

As a member of a minority, I can tell you that the world is made for people who are right handed. It is true that right handed people have a dominant left brain. Left handed people use the right side. Therefore, only left handed people are in their right mind!

Nearly all things are made for right-handed people, and lefties have to live in the world designed for righties. We struggle with many things – binders, butter knives, driver’s cup holders, keyboards, game controllers, computer mouses, scissors, golf clubs, baseball gloves, watches, and even door knobs – I could go on and on. I’ll bet that most lefties have bad penmanship, because it’s more difficult to push a writing instrument than to pull it, AND the left hand follows the pen or pencil, so it picks up ink and lead along the way, smearing the hand and the paper.

Culture of the 1960’s – As seen in the movies

1960The pop culture is a reflection of the social and political mores of the times.  The 1960’s were a heyday in Hollywood movie making.  Part of that is, in my opinion, because of the depth of talent in acting, directing and script writing.  Part of it is technological advancements.  Of course, home video equipment wasn’t available for another decade, so your movie watching was done either in a theater, or on television.

Flamers!

In case you hadn’t heard . . .

NBC News

An LGBTQ flag was burned at an elementary school in Southern California this month ahead of a Pride event, and police are investigating the incident as a hate crime, authorities said.

Of course breaking and entering and destroying another’s property are crimes, which did occur in this instance. However, burning of a flag is an expression of free speech, not a “hate crime”.

Just a reminder:

Megyn Kelly Explains Why She Will No Longer Use “Preferred Pronouns”

Megyn Kelly begins the show with a monologue explaining why she is done using “preferred pronouns” and will base her conversations on trans ideology in reality and truth, how her own views on this issue have evolved, the harms of gender affirming care in schools and by physicians, the injustice of biological men competing in women’s sports, how Lia Thomas and then Riley Gaines changed the story, standing up for women, and more.

She closes her monologue with the poem, I Am Not A Dress, written by  14-year old Irish woman, who goes by the name Brandubh. She wrote it after she was criticized by a teacher for saying that sex was not assigned at birth. “Its not assigned, its observed,” she said, pointing out that for many women sex is observed while they were a baby in the womb.

We are women, we are warriors of steel.
Woman is something no man will ever feel.
Woman is not a skill that any man can hone.
Woman is our word and it is ours alone.

I am not a dress to be worn on a whim,
A man in a dress is nonetheless a him.
Women are not simply what we wear.
If this offends you, I do not care.

FDR’s D-Day Prayer (two steps from hell, heart of courage)

. . . every radio station should play President Franklin D Roosevelt’s national prayer broadcast on the evening American and allied troops had successfully landed in France. D Day was the biggest single event of World War Two.

Hearing an American President (and the most famous liberal Democrat in history) ask the American people to join in prayer and then openly praying to God is an emotional experience. It would be good for America if each year we remembered D Day with President Roosevelt’s prayer.

Newt Gingrich

FDR addressed the nation and asked if they would pray with him. Of course a lot of these clips aren’t from Normandy, but the main theme is Amphibious Assaults and Aerial Combat.
