A repeat – but just as pertinent today.
From the poem by W.B. Yeats, “The Second Coming”.
“Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity…”
In a 1936 letter to a friend, Yeats said that the poem was ‘written some 16 or 17 years ago and foretold what is happening‘, that is, Yeats poetically predicted the rise of a rough beast that manifested as chaos and upheaval in the form of Nazism and Fascism, bringing Europe to its knees.
Thanks to Judge Doughty for halting government contact with media companies in order to suppress free speech.
The latest is that the Judge denied the government’s request for a stay of his injunction. He says:
I predict that the Netherlands will continue to be a socialist country, but the government may have overreached. There is no denying that the EU countries are facing a catastrophic situation with illegal immigration from Africa and eastern Europe, including Ukraine.
The Netherlands definitely has a socialist infrastructure: it has a strong welfare system, regulates minimum and maximum salaries, taxes, education and has socialized medicine and many other social measures. In a socialist regime, the Government intervenes in all aspects of society, private business, public education, the health care system, etc. Wealth redistribution underpins these government programs. Private property is becoming less and less recognized; they believe that natural resources belong to all Dutch citizens.
You may have been following the news about the Dutch farmers, and the government’s plans to eliminate livestock farming: either the farmers become more sustainable, or the government would force them to sell their land to the government.
A major point of contention is immigration. The Netherlands has encouraged immigration in the past, providing economic assistance to immigrants, encouraging the building of mosques and madrassas, which they saw as an expression of religious freedom.
Now the latest (euronews)
Fine rebuttal from PJ Media and the Wall Street Journal.
The headlines were stark and specific. Reuters claimed, “World registers hottest day ever recorded on July 3.
Well, “ever recorded” is misleading since the records have only been “recorded” since 1979. But what kind of a headline would that have been?
[…] should we be worried that it’s very hot in the Western Hemisphere during the summer? The people and groups who want you worried want you to forget that prosaic fact.
