Today in history: Paul Revere’s ride

Exactly 250 years ago today.

On this day in 1775, Paul Revere makes his famous ride. I am so sorry to tell you that he did not really yell “the British are coming!” as he rode. But he did accomplish one important goal: He warned Samuel Adams and John Hancock that British soldiers were coming to arrest them.

He’d intended to continue on to Concord, warning those townspeople about British movements so weapons and stores could be secured. Unfortunately, his ride was interrupted.

Today in the Christian world, we observe the death of Jesus. In Jerusalem, pilgrims follow the Via Dolorosa (The Way of Suffering/Grief), which is the path that Jesus followed, carrying the Cross.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built on the site where Jesus was crucified, died, and rose from the dead, is open to visitors.

Federal agency sends criminal referral to DOJ on AG Letitia James
