In Honor Of Our Country – And Her Flag!

Today, June 14, is Flag Day.  In her honor, a bit of music and a bit of history.

September 14 marks the anniversary  of the Battle of Baltimore, and the siege on Ft. McHenry.  At the famous battle, Francis Scott Key wrote the words that would become our National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner. Continue reading

Federal Responsibility

California’s Governor Gavin Newsom would like us to believe that the Federal Government and the military should not interfere in California. He says that the military has no business in the streets of L.A. because they are trained for foreign combat, not domestic law enforcement.

Newsom claims that ICE activity in California is causing chaos and fear, claiming that “Trump’s agents” are terrorizing schools and arresting “dishwashers, gardeners, day laborers and seamstresses”, and that it is weakness masquerading as strength.

Newsom wants to protect illegal immigrants, including dangerous criminals, but what of the citizens of his state who are being harmed by the riots? What about the business owners and residents who have been injured or are seeing their property destroyed?

When a state’s leadership refuses to enforce the law, or cooperate with Federal authorities, it creates a vacuum of order that invites – indeed necessitates – federal action.

Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue (The Angry American)

“Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)” is a song written and recorded by American country music artist Toby Keith. The song was written in late 2001, and was inspired by Keith’s father’s death in March 2001, as well as the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States later that year.

According to Wikipedia, at first, Keith refused to record the song and only sang it live at his concerts for military personnel. The reaction, however, was so strong that the Commandant of the Marine Corps James L. Jones told Keith it was his duty as an American citizen to record the song. “It’s your job as a singer to lift the morale of the troops,” Jones said to Keith. “If you want to serve, that is what you can do.”

In a November 2003 interview with CBS, Keith gave his take on the song: “It wasn’t written for everybody. And when you write something from your heart – I had a dad that was a veteran, taught me how precious our freedom is – I was so angry when we were attacked here on American soil that it leaked out of me. You know, some people wept when they heard it. Some people got goose bumps. Some people were emotionally moved. Some cheered, turned their fists in the air.”

When I played this video while preparing this post, my eyes filled with tears.

As you probably know, Toby died last year after a long battle with cancer. God bless him.

CA Senator Alex Padilla Arrested for Ambushing Kristi Noem’s Press Conference

Disgraceful. Crazy.

California senator Alex Padilla was quickly taken away from  Secretary Kristi Noem after lunging at her during a press conference addressing the Los Angeles anti-ICE riots.

After loudly speaking over Noem and approaching the podium where she was standing, Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., was pushed out of the room by authorities as they ordered him to put his hands up.

The incident happened just after Noem said that the DHS was “staying here to liberate this city from the socialist and the burdensome leadership that this governor and this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into this city.”

He was handcuffed by the Secret Service and taken away.

He was later identified and released. According to Fox News, Noem said the pair later met in a private room, where they spoke privately for about 15 minutes and exchanged phone numbers.

She said the senator had concerns about ICE operations, and they opened up a line of communication, noting things were OK between the two of them.
