Stellars, have a wonderful Sunday in Appalachia….

“The Hidden Ecosystems of Appalachia — Rainforests, Tundra, Alpine Forests & More”

Appalachia is home to some of the most unique and diverse ecosystems in North America: including temperate rainforests, heath balds, alpine forests, and even tundra-like environments. In this video, we explore the surprising ecological diversity of the Appalachian Mountains, including:

    • Heath balds (like Craggy Gardens)

    • Temperate rainforests of the southern Appalachians

    • High elevation alpine forests

    • Tundra like ecosystems in West Virginia

    • Unique wildlife, including salamanders and undiscovered species

The Appalachian Mountains are among the oldest mountain ranges on Earth, and their age, climate, and geography have created an incredible diversity of habitats, many found nowhere else.

This was to accompany my post on Appalachia but that post was sent to moderation. It will probably show up later.

Map of Appalachia…as you can see, West Virginia is the only state entirely in Appalachia…
