Banská Štiavnica is a historic mountain town in central Slovakia, surrounded by forested hills and volcanic landscapes. Once one of Europe’s most important mining centers, the town is rich in medieval history and scientific heritage. Cobblestone streets, colorful houses, ancient churches, and old mining structures create a unique and atmospheric setting. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, Banská Štiavnica feels calm, authentic, and deeply connected to its past. This video captures the historic townscape, mountain scenery, and timeless charm that make Banská Štiavnica one of Europe’s most beautiful hidden gems.

Good mornin’, and happy Monday, and as noted, the last Monday of the year. I found this chrome-plated beauty which is listed as a cofee/espresso maker from the 30’s or 40’s. Something different, since half of us aren’t quite sure what day it even is! Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee.

National Tic Tok Day – reminds us to complete any unfinished business that might need addressing before the end of the year.

National Pepper Pot Day – Pepper pot soup is a highly seasoned soup prepared with peppercorns, small bits of meat, tripe, vegetables, and broth. The dish may be more familiar by the name of Philadelphia Pepper Pot because it was brought to the area by people from Africa, the West Indies, and the Caribbean. Colonial Black women served the dish in their homes, the homes where they worked, and in markets. It’s considered an early street food by many historians.

Mornin’ All. Temps still down in the teens but expected to go back up some next week. It looks like it might just be a warmish winter this year.

The new year isn’t far off. Wonder what all it will bring. Enjoy your day.
