    Good mornin’, and happy Tuesday! Another day marked off not taking Tylenol….so there’s that. Coffee from my neighbors across the river from me today! Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee!

    National Snack Sticks Day – Primarily made with beef or pork, snack sticks harken back to the days when families preserved quantities of beef, pork, and game. Full of family tradition, they made sausage through smoking and aging. Look like jerky sticks.

    National Teal Talk Day – ovarian cancer

    National Great American Pot Pie Day – love these,, especially chicken and turkey ones

    National Checkers and Dogs in Politics Day – nevee hear about pets in the Trump White House

    Restless Legs Awareness Day – mam had this badly, and my brother and I have had touches it it over the years. There are meds now.

    National Innergize Day – Do things you enjoy that make you feel good about yourself. Let stress and worry fade away for the day.

    Mornin’ All. I think it is in the 40’s out side, and it is 65* in the living room. I am glad I turned on the heater in the bathroom the other day. It was fairly comfortable when I got up this morning. It is a beautiful day with full sun, but I think it may be time to crank up the other baseboard heaters, at least in the living room.. They do take a while to warm up areas.

    He also discusses sunlight and oxidative stress.

    We all need to get out of the house and get more sunlight.

    Let’s talk about the Tylenol in pregnancy thing. 📷
    Here’s the truth: when you take acetaminophen (Tylenol), part of it is converted into a toxic byproduct called NAPQI (N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone imine). Your body can only clear that toxin with glutathione — your body’s master antioxidant.
    📷In pregnancy, your glutathione supply is already lower.
    📷Babies in the womb have almost NONE to spare.
    📷Result? More oxidative stress in a rapidly developing brain.
    And that matters:
    – Studies measuring acetaminophen in cord blood found higher exposure was linked with autism and ADHD later on (Ji et al., JAMA Psych 2019). Another found those same babies had higher oxidative stress markers (Anand et al., Brain Sci 2021).
    To put this in perspective: acetaminophen is already the #1 cause of acute liver failure in adults in the U.S. — because when glutathione runs out, damage happens.
    Why would we assume it’s 100% safe for a developing baby?
    Not every study agrees, however — a Swedish sibling study didn’t find a *causal* link (Ahlqvist et al., JAMA 2024).
    HOWEVER, the biological mechanism is real, and enough evidence exists consuming acetaminophen during pregnancy deserves a second thought.
    And yes— acetaminophen (Tylenol) does cross the placenta.
    Studies using both human and animal models show that acetaminophen and its metabolites pass readily from maternal circulation into the baby in utero.
    “But ACOG says it’s safe…”
    Yes, they do. But let’s not forget:
    • The AAP was sponsored by Coca-Cola until 2015.
    • The AMA struck a multimillion-dollar deal in the ‘90s to endorse Sunbeam products — and had to backtrack after lawsuits.
    • ACOG itself publishes conflict-of-interest disclosures because industry ties are so common.
    So “because ACOG recommends it” is not the slam-dunk people think.
    ACOG, AAP, AMA- they’re all made up of fallable men and women who are subject to their own biases and able to be influenced by their sponsors.
    Moms — please hear this.
    If you took Tylenol in pregnancy because your doctor told you it was safe: you do not need to carry guilt. You made the best choice with the info you had at the time.
    But let’s also remember: every single drug ever pulled from the market was once stamped ‘safe and effective.’
    Approval does not equal risk-free.
    Bottom line: there is a time and a place for Tylenol, but it isn’t harmless. It carries side effects and risks like EVERY.SINGLE. PHARMACEUTICAL on the market.
    The safest path? Use it only when truly needed, at the lowest dose, for the shortest time. Don’t assume “safe” means zero risk.

    AND more! I’m including all of these because of the crazy leftists (even doctors!) who are pooh-poohing this latest advisory because it doesn’t fit their politics or something. Some are chugging Tylenol on TikTok. I wish their livers all the best.

      When I had a daycare about 30 years ago, our group had a nurse who came out and discussed Tylenol. She said then that it was very dangerous for children. For anybody. She said she was an ER nurse and a teenage girl had taken a bottle of Tylenol to kill herself. They pumped her stomach and hoped for the best. She died a day or so later of liver failure. It was all in the news.

      She said if someone came in with a drug overdose, even cocaine or heroin, there was a chance to save them, but not Tylenol. It was really important to keep Tylenol away from children.

        I knew a woman who survived serious Tylenol poisoning. She said her family was already talking about her funeral. It can be very dangerous. She told me that, in her case, she did not realize that she shouldn’t take Tylenol while drinking alcohol. I wonder how many people don’t know that.
