A Moral Case for Capitalism

“Capitalism was the only system in history where wealth was not acquired by looting, but by production, not by force, but by trade, the only system that stood for man’s right to his own mind, to his work, to his life, to his happiness, to himself.” Ayn Rand

Many years ago, when my husband was a child, his father used to tell him that sales tax was the most fair tax. Back then, people spent according to their wealth. I’m not sure about that now, as people in subsidized housing and on food stamps seem to always have the latest iPhone, and lately I see a number of import model cars in the hood. Not to mention gold, shoes, etc.

I’d be okay with less or no income tax, as long as these people weren’t cut a ridiculous break for being no income. If you have it to spend on stuff like that, then pay taxes on it.
