    A cool front came thru last night and it is positively fall-like outside. With a steady breeze to help. Temp is the same as yesterday, but lower humidity.

    Mornin All. Well, we had some showers move in last night and it just started raining, I mean, really raining again. It is overcast and so cool I need a shirt with sleeves in it. A welcome relief. Ooh, it I coming down harder now. That is really unusual. I am just going to enjoy the rain today.

    Hope you all have a little respite from the heat.

    They are celebrating a social worker and community activist who has affected thousands of lives over the last eight decades in this city. As the Sun-Times reported, her “backbone and willpower fueled positive change in Chicago for decades.”

    Angela Piazza Turley was a force to be reckoned with — both the irresistible force and the immovable object when it came to fighting for others.

    She was also my mother.

    The writer George Bernard Shaw once said that unreasonable people expect the world to conform to them. He then added that that was why all history is made by unreasonable people.

    My mother was one of those brilliantly unreasonable people. As the baby of five, I spent much of my early years clinging for dear life on my mother’s skirts as she confronted slum landlords, abusive husbands, and gang bangers in the Uptown area of Chicago. Time and again, I would squeeze her hand with that look of “what do we do now?”

      Such a sweet tribute.

      It is sad that often such stories are only seen in an obituary.

      Mike Rowe’s “People You Should Know”, is the living equivalent.

      I am thankful for the chance “to know”, before it is too late.

    FYI and viewing: I just posted a cat YouTube at the Caturday celebration at Stella’s Place. Miss Muffy lives with her two adopted brothers and one sister plus her human Mom and Dad in Nova Scotia. Miss Muffy will be 26 years old this month. She’s a darling little pumpkin who is mostly deaf but otherwise is in good health for her incredible age.

    A common method to convert cat years to human years is as follows:

    First Two Years:

    • The first year of a cat’s life is roughly equivalent to 15 human years.
    • The second year adds about 9 more human years, totaling 24 human years by the end of the second year.

    Subsequent Years:

    • Each additional year after the second is approximately equal to 4 human years.

    Example Calculation:

    • A 3-year-old cat is about 28 human years old (24 + 4).
    • A 5-year-old cat is about 36 human years old (24 + 4 + 4).

    This method provides a general guideline, but individual cats may age differently based on factors like breed and health.

    These poor weather guessers are having a really hard time. They said the rain and storms were over an hour ago and there would be no more. Well, the wind started blowing a little while ago and there was lightening and thunder and it just started pouring. I heard people squealing and running back to their homes or cars. LOL. Then the power went out. I figured it was going to be a hot night because the humidity was about 85%, but when the wind started blowing it cooled off. The power came right back on, but what a surprise!

      Ha, ha. I just checked the weather report again and they have changed it to t-storms and showers for the next hour or so.
