BREAKING: many dead, dozens missing in chaotic Texas floods

At least six people are dead in Texas Hill Country and 23 unaccounted from a girls’ summer camp after flash flooding swept through overnight, Texas officials said during an update Friday evening. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.

Multiple deaths have been reported in Texas after heavy rain caused flash flooding of a river, while search teams used boats to conduct rescues Friday as fast-moving water threatened riverfront communities near wildlife habitats and campgrounds.

Latest is 13 confirmed dead.

From Fox News:

The National Guard was deployed in Texas on Friday after a devastating river flood killed more than a dozen people and swept away dozens of children at a local Christian camp.

Heavy rain on Friday morning caused the Guadalupe River to rise nearly 30 feet in 45 minutes.

Officials confirmed at least 13 people are dead, including adults and children.

At least 20 children attending Camp Mystic remain missing, according to Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. The camp, which had more than 750 attendees, is being evacuated via helicopter.
