Conclave 2025: A New Pope Has Been Chosen

The Vatican announced the election of Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope in the history of the Catholic Church, shortly after white smoke began pouring from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel on Thursday.

Cardinal Protodeacon Dominique Mamberti announced Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost’s election as pope to the thousands of faithful who descended on St. Peter’s Square after the 133 voting cardinals deliberated in the Sistine Chapel for roughly 24 hours.

Prevost, a 69-year-old Augustinian, appeared on the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica wearing the traditional red cape of the papacy — a cape that Pope Francis had chosen not to wear after his election in 2013.

Sadly a black Pope would not be picked for fear of more blacks switching from Islam to Catholicism.

The globalist must keep us divided.

I’m reserving judgement. Surprisingly, a few of the most Trad Francis haters I’ve seen in the Catholic journalism and commentary world are cautiously optimistic.

This is a comment I made to my sons today. I think money is a big factor. I’d bet that most donations to the Church at the Vatican level come from America, and most of that from conservative, traditional leaning Catholics like me.

American Cardinal Burke and African Cardinal Sarah were resolute in opposing the Francis faction. They may have mustered enough moderates to vote with the actual Catholic faction which comprises at least 1/3 of the votes, probably.

Also, due to Francis and the libs, the Vatican is dead ass beyond broke and many people like us have long since absolutely cut off the money. They have to have that in mind.

A hard truth for them is most of the donations in the Church, a huge %, come from the traditional Catholic families, not the Francis libs.

These guys live large, and they need the money. They may have had to compromise in hopes of just surviving.
