Carney’s Liberals Win Narrow Victory in Canada’s Election

I think Canadians are committing suicide. Following their friends in the U.K.

Financial Post

The Conservatives, led by Pierre Poilievre, increased their overall vote share and made inroads in the suburbs around Toronto and other parts of Ontario, turning it into a closer election than pollsters had anticipated. The province is home to major industries such as auto manufacturing and steel that are in the crosshairs of Trump’s tariffs.

Yet Poilievre, who has held office in an Ottawa-area district for more than 20 years, was projected to have lost his own seat in Parliament.

With more than 99% of polls reporting, Poilievre trailed the Liberal Party’s Bruce Fanjoy by a 50.6% to 46.1% margin. The defeat does not necessarily mean Poilievre must resign as party leader, but it may make hanging on to his position more challenging.

Liberals were also on track to gain eight seats in Quebec, and continued their dominance in the four provinces in the Atlantic region.

While his margin of victory is thin, Carney’s win still represents a major turnaround for the Liberals, a party that has governed Canada for most of the past century but seemed on track for an electoral drubbing just four months ago.

The ex-governor of the Bank of Canada and Bank of England became Liberal leader on March 9 and called an election only two weeks later. He leaned into his position as a prime minister who’d fight for Canada against an aggressive White House.

Carney, 60, tried to establish quickly that he was different from his predecessor, Justin Trudeau — more focused on the economy and on building new trade and security alliances, given the new foreign policy coming from Washington.

His first steps were to cancel some of Trudeau’s less popular policies, such as a carbon tax on consumers, and to visit two European allies, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Starmer.

I think most of us knew that Marx Carnage would “win”. I’ve been saying for a long time now; if we were allowed to have another election, it wouldn’t be called until the results were bought and paid for. As soon as Carnage was installed as party leader (something else anyone with two brain cells to rub together knew was going to happen), the mainstream media went into overdrive to precondition people for a Carnage win.

In reality, Carnage was Canada’s Kamala. Installed and propped up. Except they managed to get him in. There are huge amounts of irregularities, but they will be ignored.

Our only hope is for Western provinces to start separating. Possibly join the US, but more likely to form a new independent republic. That has been in the works for many years.
