Good mornin’, Lucille! We’ve got a regular here who knows this little GA town quite well, IIRC. Coffee’s ready, ma’am.

I do love a number of those towns, Lucille. Like T says, Dahlonega is special, one of the most beautiful little towns you’ll find. So many wonderful things to do in those mountains around that town. For a special long weekend, go stay at Amicalola Falls Lodge nearby, less than an hour away, and you’ll be able to hike to the falls. It’s the southern jump off point, connecting to the Appalachian Trail. Rugged, beautiful territory.

Also on the list is Helen, Georgia. Looks like you stepped into Germany. I don’t go a lot, but the last time I was there, man, did I have a wonderful German selection off foods for lunch. Also, if it’s still like it was, not too far out of town, the mountains were so pristine I really wondered if I’d stumbled into some time warp. No sign of civilization except the road I was on.

Once, Savannah, Georgia was a favorite place for us to sneak off to for a few days. It was THE quirky southern town, full of possibilities, character, and wonderful strolls through the squares and along the river. Sadly, we went back last summer, after ten years or so, and it’s now just a high end well developed tourist mecca.

Thanks, Lucille, I enjoyed the list! We had a vacation in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia last summer, and wandered into West Virginia one day. I’m hoping to visit those states again.

I hate to hear that about Savannah, but I shouldn’t be surprised. I was there back in the early 90’s with a friend and it was quite enjoyable.

Menagerie, how lovely you’ve been able to visit these towns and enjoyed them. It’s downright sad, though, that a city with such a beautiful name as Savannah has gone over-developed and lost much of its charm. Youngsters will never know what was and is no more.

Good mornin’, and happy Saturday, kids! What a week of winning it’s been. We’ve watched some mature seniors living in DC beclown themselves as they half-heartedly tried to force their way into gubmint buildings. We’re seeing a bunch of gubmint “workers” take the money and run! It’s been glorious. But we need coffee to go with our popcorn. Here’s some cowboy coffee and what appears to be some biscuits over an open flame! Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee!

You’re going to be even more amused and probably angry after we start getting more intel on this “group” called “Internews Network”. Looking at nearly $100B in funding for one year and that’s just with their “normal” name.

National Iowa Day – Anyone from Iowa lurking out there? My immigrant German great grandparents settled there.

National Kite Flying Day – we used to make kites out of newspaper

National Boy Scouts’ Day – I thought they went out of business or merged with the girls to become just “scouts”

Good day, Czarina! I must be prescient seeing as one of the photos in my “bridge” post above is from Iowa, and I didn’t know it’s National Iowa Day. I did see some leftie nut the other day said that Iowa is inherently racist because the population is mostly white.

Is it appropriate to tell someone to “go fly a kite” when it’s National Kite Flying Day?

Since both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts have become pretty woke (depending upon the individual troop, I suppose) and get a lot of misdirection from headquarters nowadays, celebrating either of them on their national days is of no interest.

Mornin’ All. I guess I am pretty much snowed in at this point. My neighbors are parking at the brewery next door, which is pretty much a hike from there to our parking lot because they can’t walk straight here because it is a little cliff down to this lot. I got a delivery from Walmart yesterday. I had run out of coffee. You know, it was an emergency. I felt so bad when the poor delivery guy almost couldn’t get out of the driveway. I bet he refuses to ever come back here.

I am now understanding looking forward to spring. Hope the weather is good in your area.

    Good afternoon Aus, (and all,)

Glad the delivery man made it out of your driveway. It’s not easy for them this time of year in icy/snowy conditions.

Came across a study that revealed that due to a shortage of black plastic, recycled computer parts are being used in black plastic food containers and other items used in contact with foodstuffs. Computer parts were created with toxic chemicals including fire retardants. So the toxic plastic is being mixed with food-safe plastics, via some twisted mixture of greed and definitions of “limited use – destined for a landfill” regulations. Especially concerning is the heating of foods in black plastic containers.

Black plastic alone makes up about 15% of landfilled plastics, because the machinery used in many places cannot detect black plastic so it bypasses the sorting process.

    https://www.beyondplastics.org/fact-sheets/black-plastic

I don’t normally reheat in any plastic containers because I was warned early on that “plastic gives off what it is, and absorbs what it contains.”

With little variation, that has proven to be true.

BOOM! President Donald J. Trump Offers “Resettlement of Afrikaner Refugees Escaping Government-Sponsored Race-Based Discrimination” in South Africa

By Collin McMahon Feb. 8, 2025 10:15 am

Donald J. Trump continues his historic Presidency by issuing an Executive Order to cut off all aid to the radical Marxist and racist ANC regime in South Africa and offer a resettlement plan to ethnic minorities targeted by racist legislation and horrific violence in South Africa. “This week the chickens finally came home to roost for the ANC and their extremist, destructive policies”, commented AfriForum spokesman Ernst van Zyl.
