The other day I mentioned my paternal grandfather’s birthday. Well, I almost forgot to mention that I was born on my maternal grandfather’s birthday. They were born two days and 600 miles apart, both in 1900. On this day, I was the 11th grandchild on the depth chart, but immediately shot to #1 in the heart and mind of Grandpa T. I’ve still got a couple cousins with the red-*ss about it too! I got to celebrate 19 birthday’s with him.

My paternal grandfather was born on the 8th of the month, my maternal grandfather on the 9th, and me on the 10th. My paternal grandfather said I picked my own day so as not to hurt their feelings.

The one thing I’ve noticed lately is that the quality of the recruits for these jobs is really starting to fall off. Thank goodness our educational system is failing in that regard!

I do know that 20 years ago the minimum age for recruits was 27 (’cause my child applied – not old enough)…. not fresh outta high school dum basses.

Finally home, and it’s nasty out there, a little worse west of the city where I was. Winds are up, rain is pouring. I am not going to go back out unless I have to until after Friday when this stuff is done with us. Grateful to get it though, we really need some rain.
