1 Timothy, Chapter 4 – seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils

4 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

11 These things command and teach.

New International Version

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.

For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,

because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.

Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance.

10 That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.

11 Command and teach these things.

The Book of 1 Timothy is a pastoral epistle, one of three letters attributed to the Apostle Paul, along with 2 Timothy and Titus. It is addressed to Timothy, a young pastor and delegate of Paul, who was ministering in the church at Ephesus.

The date of writing is estimated to be between 62-64 AD, shortly before Paul’s second Roman imprisonment.

    If this woman was born-again, and knew how to tell the presence of God, she neglected to say that the presence was telling her, “There is another way.”

    Some just don’t want to listen. Twice?

    Sure God loves us, that’s why he gave us commandments.

    Impossible to tell from a photograph what she actually said, but the dramatic irony of shilling for Planned Parenthood is rich.

    Ever see an ad that shows a healthy, happy family with a baby in their ads?

    May God have mercy and rectify this situation. This woman is lost, and is leading other people in the way of lostness. Her message is not of God.
