The 1943 pic of the telephone switchboard reminded me of my first job. I worked the switchboard for Southern Bell in South Miami in 1968. Looked remarkably like that.

I applied to GTE (General Telephone and Electronics) in Pomona, CA in summer 1960. I was looking for a part-time job while going to college. Turned out they didn’t have any openings for part-time, though.
So I stuck with being an “usherette” at the local FOX theatre, which was quite an experience in itself. Got to see EXODUS with Paul Newman 3 times a day for two weeks…LOL!

Hi, Czarina! Since it’s National Coast Guard day, I’ll be friendly and take some chocolate chip cookies to the nearest recruiting center.
Speaking of the Coast Guard, this is Cesar Romero during WW2. It’s amazing how many famous stars were just one of the guys serving their country during time of crisis.
