August 1st, just starting the worst of summer here. And for the last week the weather people have been trying to make a tropical wave in the Caribbean into something to be concerned about for both coasts of Florida, and maybe the Gulf Coast and Georgia. Building to a crisis I guess.

Hi, aus! We’ll be at 94 today with 101 tomorrow. Just staying inside. So far today haven’t had the air conditioning on. Helps keep the electric bill within reason. Last month was $39 and change which was a happy surprise.

Federal Judge: 4 States Must Enforce New Title IX Rules on Gender
Twenty-six states are suing the Biden administration over its expansion of the law barring sex-based discrimination in federally funded education programs.

The rule does not address sex-separate sports teams, but it would apply to bathrooms, locker rooms, and shower areas, meaning that schools and colleges could lose federal funding if they require students to use the facilities corresponding to their biological sex.
It also expands the definition of “sex-based harassment” to include addressing someone with a pronoun that aligns with his or her sex but conflicts with his or her preferred gender. Educators who don’t comply could be subject to Title IX investigation and potential discipline, even if complying would go against their religious or moral convictions.
Over the past few weeks, federal courts have put the new rules on hold in almost half of all states while the litigation continues. Axon is the first judge to rule in favor of the federal government.

IMO, if you own an AR-15 for self-defense, a magazine capacity of 10 rounds isn’t much if you’ve got a home invasion of 2 or more assailants. I assume, though, if you have a semi-automatic AR-15 you are proficient in its use and hopefully cool under pressure. Still, to me, “large” capacity magazines are 30 rounds and above.

It turns out, however, that acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe is no different from Cheatle. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) dropped a bombshell letter Thursday afternoon revealing that a whistleblower told him Rowe personally ordered cuts in funding to Secret Service Agents responsible for threat assessments at events.
In other words, Rowe is mainly responsible for Trump nearly getting gunned down because he was too cheap to invest in actual Secret Service priorities. Rowe replacing Cheatle is nothing more than rearranging chairs on the Titanic.
