We survived the week, but I haven’t seen the Friday evening news dump. But right now, who cares. We need coffee. 1950’s vintage Wear-Ever aluminum coffee pot that was used for camping. Coffee up, y’all, and carpe the diem!

I keep waiting for her to crack in public and admit that she’s been a grifter all this time. You can’t hold that in for as long as they have without spilling your guts. Despicable, deplorable old skank.

420 Day – to legalize marijuana
Volunteer Recognition Day
National Record Store Day – hardly any of these left
National Cheddar Fries Day – cheese and potatoes, always good
National Auctioneers’ Day
National Lima Bean Respect Day- one of my favorites, especially baby limas mixed with corn = succotash
National Look Alike Day
National Pineapple Upside Down Cake Day – made in my mother’s cast iron frying pan

I loved the record stores as a kid. Mornin’ Czarina!

Good morning czarina! Pineapple upside down cake – my SIL and grandson request it every year on their birthdays. Also in cast iron!

Not a bad day. I too led a life on the edges of society while hanging out in the record stores, would go home and eat some lima beans, and be thankful that I never ran into my doppelganger. I hear that 420 stuff just makes you tired……..according to a friend. But you will eat some cheddar fries or an entire pepperoni pizza.

Hi, Czarina! Looks like the various edibles would go OK together…cheddar fries, Lima beans, and pineapple upside down cake. Throw in some white Basmati rice and I’d chow down, for sure.
Perhaps running into some lookalike auctioneers who were volunteering at an old record store celebrating Frank singing “That’s Life.”…
….would be fun. But legalizing mj for the general populace is still out in my book.
Have a good day!

Mornin’ All. Beautiful day here. It is only 36*, but no wind and in the sun is very comfortable………if you have a coat on.
My grandkids were over yesterday. What fun. My grandson is now almost five months old. He is such a delight. He laughs at everything, and when he laughs, he laughs all over from the tips of his toes to the top of his head. It is so funny to see.
Hope you all have a nice weekend.

In case any of you were walking around feeling really smart today, here’s an article that will dumb you down, almost instantly. The newest scientific scam – “Indigenous Mathematics”. You read that right. The Ebonics of the math world is now here.
Maths has no borders: Professor Rowena Ball brings Indigenous mathematics to ANU | ANU College of Science

This one gets my goat to the infinite degree. I’m serious.
I am teaching my second grade grandson multiplication and division. Unlike in the public schools, he’s memorizing the tables. He’s being taugh inverse functions. He’s learning how to write multiplication and division sentences from word problems. He knows what factors and products are.
If I should live so long, and still have the privilege of teaching, someday he will be deriving formulas and writing proofs. And then we’ll start high school math.

I say, let them first learn numerical mathematics, then they can explore “non-numerical mathematics” (whatever the hell that is) all they want. Easy for this broad to push it, since she already had advanced knowledge of traditional mathematics, but not so good for those who don’t.

I’ve said this a hundred times over the years, to anyone who will listen, and a bunch I had to yell at.
Math taught me to think better. It taught me logic, and very importantly, it taught me how to solve problems in life.
Analyze what’s going on. What do you need to do? How do you get there? What information that you have is useful to the problem? What steps can you take to organize your information, and start solving the problem? And then, go backwards and check that things are right.
We cheat kids of thinking skills by allowing them to say “I’m not good at math.”
B.S. That’s when you inform them you can help them be great at math. And thinking.

For ‘democracy’ or the ‘democratic spirit’ (diabolical sense) leads to a nation without great men, a nation mainly of subliterates, full of the cocksureness which flattery breeds on ignorance, and quick to snarl or whimper at the first sign of criticism. And that is what Hell wishes every democratic people to be. For when such a nation meets in conflict a nation where children have been made to work at school, where talent is placed in high posts, and where the ignorant mass are allowed no say at all in public affairs, only one result is possible.”

Trump Jury Selection Offers Clues to New York Trial’s Direction
President Trump’s jury selection has raised questions about the legal process and whether lawyers can serve as suitable jurors.
By Sam Dorman – 4/20/2024
Jury selection in former President Donald Trump’s New York trial has concluded, offering a glimpse into the types of people who will determine whether to convict him of felony counts of falsifying business records before the 2024 presidential election.
By April 19, the fifth day of the trial, the court had selected all 12 jurors—seven men and five women—and six alternates. Of note, two of the jurors are lawyers, raising questions about how their decision-making will differ from others observing the trial.
While some jurors said they could be fair and impartial, a huge swath of the voir dire was dismissed after Judge Juan Merchan asked them to raise their hands if they couldn’t do so.
