We’re going just a little bit old school here with the stove-top percolator. Come get you some!

Morning Tex,
Percolators make good coffee. You get to choose the amount of coffee you like and it’s brewed at a temperature that gets the best out of the bean.
Thank you kindly.

Happy Sunday, Texan! Do you have any ingredient which will turn the coffee green?

Mornin’, Lucille! Nothing that I can share on here. The closest I can come is that folks become green with envy after they have a few cups.

Mornin’, Miss Wee, Miss Stella, Menage! Coffee will be flowing until we’re through with the Irish coffee. Then, we might fire up another pot to make sure everyone gets home safely.
😀 😀 😀

Miz Wee, looks like the time has slipped over into afternoon here in the PDT zone…so, I’ll be wishin’ ye a…Tráthnóna maith (Traw-no-na mah).
Just discovered this, too…”The word ‘Gaelic’ in English derives from Gaeilge which is the word in Irish for the language itself. However, when English is being used, the Irish language is conventionally referred to as ‘Irish’, not ‘Gaelic’.”

Mornin’ all ya’all! Coolish and humid, breezy. Big storms coming in a couple of hours, likely to rain for about 5 hours. My house won’t flood, but there is a low place down the road which will fill and stay too high to drive through for the rest of the day.

National Corned Beef and Cabbage Day

Mornin’, czarina. I’m probably labeled a heretic, but I will have to go with the corned beef all by itself. Cabbage and I don’t get along so well. But I’ll eat the beef all day long.

Few things are as delicious as a Guinness beef stew. This one has dumpling with fresh herbs, so you don’t even need that Guinness bread recipe I was going to share!
Better get started now, in my opinion, beef stews only get good after a long, long cooking time. If you really want to up the flavor, throw in some oxtail.
Here’s to the Irish, and their bold and courageous saint. God bless us all!

Good grief Wee. Probably a good thing I gave up sweets for Lent. This would kill me dead!

Looks good! I love pot roast braised in red wine, so I’m sure I would like this too.
Just put my corned beef to braise in the oven on low heat for a few hours. Made soup yesterday with black eyed peas, Italian sausage and tomatoes. I will have enough food to eat all week.

Our Favorite Sunday Columnist has a few thoughts on the “ruling” that came out of Fulton County this week, and it’s pretty much what you might think. Pretty much pretzel logic is her summation. For those unaware, Clarice was a high-flying barrister beginning back in the late 1960’s, so she’s pretty up-to-date on all things legal.

Yikes! I’ve got a granddaughter the same age as this young lady. I don’t think it would be a good idea to let her ride a motorcycle, let alone one that will top out over 175 mph!

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t pay a lot of attention to the happenings in India, but this got my attention. New citizenship laws exclude Muslims. Let us wait for the howls from our Congress telling them how to run their Country.

In 1947 India was partitioned into Pakistan for Muslims and India for Hindus. The feelings must still run to this division, and this law for new arrivals would naturally flow that way. Not unexpected the Hindu majority would want to maintain their power.

Have you ever made choux pastry? I’m dying to try it, but since I shouldn’t eat it, I shouldn’t make it!

I haven’t, no. And I really want to try to keep limiting my sweets after Lent as well. So, probably not going to try it anytime soon, although I do have some plans for a few Easter treats.

Haven’t had any sweets since Christmas. I limit my “sweets” to fruit with breakfast – either berries or cantaloupe with cottage cheese or farmer’s cheese. Sometimes I have strawberries or cantaloupe chunks with cheese as a snack.
I do eat the odd potato, sweet potato or squash!

I really like Skyr or Noosa yogurt. Kind of expensive, so I have it as a rare treat. With or without fruit, and sometimes chopped nuts.

I like Noosa yogurt too, but haven’t had it in a long time. When I crave a treat, I often have a spoon of peanut butter that I eat very slowly.

St Joseph’s Day is March 15, and St Patrick’s Day is March 17. Both are huge in New Orleans, having so many immigrants from Ireland and Italy. Parades are held for both together. St Joseph altars are created, displayed and then handed out to the visitors and the poor.
