I know that Miss Wee has posted about this model before, but since it’s Sunday, and some of you may be heading off to worship, this is not the worst thing you could encounter before you get to the big Church coffee urn.

    Stellars, have a Stupendous Sunday!

    On this date in 1931….

President Herbert Hoover signs a congressional act making “The Star-Spangled Banner” the official national anthem of the United States.

On September 14, 1814, Francis Scott Key composed the lyrics to “The Star-Spangled Banner” after witnessing the massive overnight British bombardment of Fort McHenry in Maryland during the War of 1812. Key, an American lawyer, watched the siege while under detainment on a British ship and penned the famous words after observing with awe that Fort McHenry’s flag survived the 1,800-bomb assault.

After circulating as a handbill, the patriotic lyrics were published in a Baltimore newspaper on September 20, 1814. Key’s words were later set to the tune of “To Anacreon in Heaven,” a popular English song. Throughout the 19th century, “The Star-Spangled Banner” was regarded as the national anthem by most branches of the U.S. armed forces and other groups, but it was not until 1916, and the signing of an executive order by President Woodrow Wilson, that it was formally designated as such. In March 1931, Congress passed an act confirming Wilson’s presidential order, and on March 3 President Hoover signed it into law. (history.com)

Good day, Czarina! ”Yes” to soup as long as it’s low sodium but unfortunately “no” to cold cuts for the same reason (on occasion my taste buds long for some fatty and delicious pastrami…

Every day is an “I want you to be happy” day, as is Anthem day. But no consolation prizes, please, to those who neither have the talent nor the desire to work hard to win any contest, be it athletic or otherwise. Now if the “play” time is just that and everyone goes out on the field to have a good time and be happy with no winners or losers or medals or statuettes, that’s fine with me. Even the best of athletes have losing days…Kurt Browning, 4 time World Champion but never won an Olympics….

Sometimes just getting up in the morning is a win.

My dad used to say that, only a little differently. He said it was a good day when you wake up on the top side of the dirt.

Good morning. It’s a grey day here, but supposed to have temps in the 60’s and then tomorrow in the 70’s!

I’m not sure how many of you may have watched the sh*t-show in ATL the last couple of weeks, but this article has some great clips of the final arguments from both sides. Let’s put it this way………..if I were a resident of that fine city, I would not feel really confident about them getting a conviction for jaywalking at this time. Most of the clips are very short, but there is a 10:00 minute clip of one of the good guys with his closing argument. Gives you faith that Perry Mason actually does exist.

Afternoon All. It is 26* and very sunny, with some clouds in the sky. It snow almost all day yesterday and we got another inch or two. It ws 17* when we went to bed last night. I didn’t go to Church this morning because I was worried about the new snow and low temps and maybe black ice. The friend I usually ride with is still home with covid.

It looks like it will be a pretty day here. Hope it will where you are.

Good afternoon, aus! It’s only 36 degrees in the Idaho Panhandle but the sun is shining brightly in my window. Adding to the beauty, I’m listening to the lovely Hans Zimmer composition for THE LAST SAMURAI soundtrack….

Not sure how two copies popped up. It looked like I put in only one link.

But it gives me an opportunity to reminisce about the first time I saw Ken Watanabe…

It was in a Japanese TV series, with no subtitles; so half the time I couldn’t quite figure out what was going on. But I just loved watching him perform. I had to ask a woman who spoke Japanese to give me an idea. Then I watched everything he was in that was on the Japanese language TV station in L.A. He really is a wonderful actor. Very manly and charming. Absolutely loved him in THE LAST SAMURAI.

The “Palestinian” push for an official “homeland” is just another excuse to kill Jews….

Escalation Towards an Independent Terrorist State

    by Nils A. Haug

Both US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron reveal their simplistic, and somewhat imperialist, Western approach to a complex Middle Eastern situation, irrespective of the aims and intentions of the two parties chiefly involved: the radical Islamists of Gaza and the West Bank, and the State of Israel itself.

The late PLO executive committee member, Zoheir Moshen, in an interview with James Dorsey for the Dutch newspaper Trouw, on March 31, 1977: “The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians, and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak about the existence of a Palestinian people since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct ‘Palestinian people’ to oppose Zionism.”
