Two state names begin with S…South Carolina and South Dakota…winter hits the latter hard and the former on occasion….

    Charleston, South Carolina…

    Pierre, South Dakota…

    Belle Fourche, South Dakota…

My mother was from South Dakota and I often heard her mention both Belle Fourche and Pierre as cities they frequented.

My sister went to college in Greenville, South Carolina and it cost less than $1,500 per year, including dorm, food, student fees and books. Our parents wanted her to enroll at a local California college, Dad even buying her a Henry J to drive to and fro.  But alas, she talked them into it.  Dad sold the car, though.  LOL!

Good morning everyone. Rainy days here. Yesterday was one of those yuck days, just a heavy mist of rain all day. Give me some rain beating on the roof, making splashes in the pond, and fog on the mountain!

      Mornin’ Menagerie
We had over six inches of unforecasted snow over the past two days and the fog this morning is thick as pea soup. Visibility is about 1 block and the National Weather has put out a fog warning for our area. The good news is that the temperature is supposed to be in the low to mid 20’s this morning but I must say, I’m ready for spring. :0)

Good morning litenmaus! I hope spring comes soone for all of us. My grandson and I have seeds to plant. We will probably start them soon, especially spinach and lettuce.

If I live long enough, we may get me to a place where plants don’t commit suicide when they see me coming!

With the exception of one really, really cold week, we’ve had a very mild winter.

I started my seeds way to early last year as the snow & cold seemed to linger forever and most of the seedlings died when I put them outside so this year I’m holding off until about the first week in May in hopes that I’ll have better luck and I’m only going to plant about a dozen tomato plants because I just don’t have the ability to take care of much more than that. Thank goodness for hollyhocks, they need no care and they’ve finally started providing me with a summer’s worth of color.

We too have had a mild winter, but we’ve had about three weeks of 40 below weather that just sapped my ability to enjoy normal winter weather, hence my desire for spring. :0)

          You’re welcome, Menagerie! LIFE!

Last evening for an unknown reason I decided to look up Henry Winkler and his childhood, expecting that he had a wonderful one since he’s such a nice person (friends of mine have attested to this). It turns out that his childhood was defeating and ego-killing.

He had a terrible time in school because he couldn’t seem to read the printed page. His parents berated him, calling him a dumb dog. Turns out that when he was 31 he discovered he has dyslexia. Needless to say that the discovery helped him with his self-esteem, but there was still the feeling of being uncared for as a child by his mother and father. He worked hard to overcome the feelings toward self-pity.

Later in life after his father had passed away, his mother began needing physical care and he decided that he would be the one to give it to her. Through that act of self-giving he was able to forgive her for the cruelty he experienced and took care of her the rest of her life.

Goes to show we never know the trials that others experience or are tempted by. Reminded me of the writings of St. Paul to the Corinthians…

“Any temptation you face will be nothing new. But God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can handle. But He always provides a way of escape so that you will be able to endure and keep moving forward.” I Corinthians 10:13 (The Voice version)

That helps, Lucille ~ I always had The Fonze pegged as a useless radical leftist. You”re correct on backgrounds! :)

He may well be a leftie. I’d have to look it up. The people I know who were friends with him are retired and now live in Tennessee. It’s not likely they’ve seen him in recent years. They were and still are Democrats, but not of the hateful variety.

Leftie politics have been the choice of many in the film industry for a very long time. But only until Hillary did people get so totally ugly toward each other. Had she wanted to, she could have stopped all the hate her followers were exhibiting. Instead she fed it because that’s the kind of person she is.

At one time Hollywood was filled with Republicans. And most everyone got along. I was a Dem myself then but never hated anyone based on politics.

              It’s a different world now.

That made me smile. He played “The Fonze” and was so good at it he almost took over the show. So different from his background.

Love it. That is the kind of rain we evidently don’t get here. In fact, half the time when it does rain, I don’t even realize it unless I look out the window and then, it is what I call a misty rain.

Afternoon All. It was 18* when we got up this morning. We are now up to 22* and overcast.

I don’t know what is going on. I have the blog sent to my email, but every once in a while it goes into my spam folder So, I know to check there for it. Yesterday, it was not in spam so I had search for it a different way. This morning, I just happened to find yesterday’s in the delete folder. When I tried to send it to my email, it sent it somewhere else. I finally tracked it down, but I can’t figure out why it is being hidden from me.

Hope your weather is not too crazy. So, have a nice day and don’t put any plants in the ground yet.

Good day, aus! 30 seconds ago the sun came bursting through the overcast and is shining in my office window as I type. Beautiful!

I’m awaiting a Walmart grocery delivery and am glad the delivery person doesn’t have to slog through rain and puddles.

Trump Co-defendant Says Nathan Wade Associate Will Refute Timeline of Fani Willis Relationship

    By Caden Pearson – 2/10/2024

Ms. Willis and Mr. Wade have filed motions to quash subpoenas that would require their testimony on Feb. 15.

Trump co-defendant Michael Roman filed a motion on Friday identifying a witness who could testify that Fulton County’s district attorney and a prosecutor she hired began a romantic relationship before they pursued the election case, refuting sworn testimony.
