    Never really hid completely, but I admit, I’m truly shocked at the extent and savagery of what we are seeing. I think lots of other people are too.

      Yes, it’s been an undercurrent throughout the centuries, popping up into violence on many occasions.

      In the 1980s I worked for a TV ministry with a well-known southern California pastor and was in charge of composing his letters to the many viewers who wrote him. He began receiving correspondence from a woman working with a religious group in “Palestine.” She’d bought into the line that the land belonged to the “Palestinians” and the Israelis were cruel occupiers plus Jews were the reason there was no permanent peace in the Middle East.

      Once a week he would come into the office to look over the letters and my responses for signature. I had been polite to this woman and tried to express Biblically what the land of Israel is all about historically and spiritually and where she was mistaken. When the pastor saw my response, he rejected it, saying he didn’t want to get into politics and needed to be more cautious in his response. So he laid the letters aside and subsequently never responded to her at all.

      I’m not saying he was anti-Semitic, but he was needlessly cowardly, imo. He had an opportunity to lovingly correct one of his admirers and get her to look at her anti-Semitism but didn’t. Sad.

    It’s astonishing, not only how quickly it was revealed, but the lies people are willing to believe and repeat, as long as it supports their antisemitism.

      Exactly! No questioning of assumptions; no real study or search for the truth. Even some people I’ve respected in the past are saying some very contentious things. Amazing!
