      A good thing to do.  It is not always necessary.  My son’s lab started checking on and guarding the baby from day 1.  When they would let her back in, she headed straight for the baby and sniffed all around her head and her blankets and once she was certain everything was all right, she would lie down near the baby carrier.

      Daisy was a mother thru and thru, always checking on, following and lying next to Spencer.
