Another thing I have made is a completely roasted tomato sauce – cut tomatoes, carrots, onions, garlic in olive oil with herbs that you like (oregano and basil are good ones.) Roast together and mash or blitz in a blender (remove the tomato skins if you like), then season with salt and pepper. Delicious!



A timely post! Due to volume and space constraints, I’m looking to do a roasted tomato sauce soon. Do you have a link to a favorite recipe, or do you just wing it?

I just wing it, but I believe that Martha Stewart has a good recipe. I’ll see if I can find it, and post it under your comment, if I do.

Some years we had so many tomatoes Czar made paste. I still have some jars. Homemade is the best. Sometimes the house was steamy with paste constantly cooking

Tomato paste is one of those things you probably wouldn’t bother to make unless you have so many tomatoes that you don’t know what to do with them!
