July 2, 1776
The Second Continental Congress, assembled in Philadelphia, formally adopts Richard Henry Lee’s resolution for independence from Great Britain. The vote is unanimous, with only New York abstaining.
The resolution had originally been presented to Congress on June 7, but it soon became clear that New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and South Carolina were as yet unwilling to declare independence, though they would likely be ready to vote in favor of a break with England in due course. Thus, Congress agreed to delay the vote on Lees Resolution until July 1.
In the intervening period, Congress appointed a committee to draft a formal declaration of independence. Its members were John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, Roger Sherman of Connecticut, Robert R. Livingston of New York and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia. Thomas Jefferson, well-known to be the best writer of the group, was selected to be the primary author of the document, which was presented to Congress for review on June 28, 1776.
On July 1, 1776, debate on the Lee Resolution resumed as planned, with a majority of the delegates favoring the resolution. Congress thought it of the utmost importance that independence be unanimously proclaimed.
To ensure this, they delayed the final vote until July 2, when 12 colonial delegations voted in favor of it, with the New York delegates abstaining, unsure of how their constituents would wish them to vote. John Adams wrote that July 2 would be celebrated as the most memorable epoch in the history of America. Instead, the day has been largely forgotten in favor of July 4, when Jeffersons edited Declaration of Independence was adopted.
Thank You, Lord, for our wonderful Declaration of Independence and for the resolve of those who signed it and pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to bring about the greatest nation which has ever existed.
Have a blessed Sunday, Stellars!

I had read many moons ago that the Congress passed the resolution well before the date we are accustomed to (July 4th), then the best the stars would align for longevity was the date we now celebrate! Astrology was more involved in decision making back then. Wonder how actually true that was and their beliefs! I understand that Ben F. was quite the astrologer. We never hear anything about that. It also was well known that royalty used astrology in many of their decisions! Interesting concept there!

Czar worked for the US government from age 18 until 60, mostly in high security jobs with access to stuff we cannot imagine. And he was highly cautious about its representatives spying on him, because he knew they could and would if they wanted to.

Yes, agreed, the feds are capable of much more than we the people realize. I worked intel in the military, there are many points that they (gov’mt) have access to. Do you have a camera on your computer? If so that can get turned on by someone in the know that’s external to your location! Sometimes, conveniences aren’t so convenient! Same with the so called smart phone!

Which is why many of us put a cover over the camera.

Good mornin’, all. Our Favorite Sunday Columnist opines on SCOTUS and their big decisions of the past week. Some emphasis on how the Court got to the look it now has, specifically the last three getting to the Court.

Looks like Brandon might want to tread lightly if he wants to eliminate things like legacy admissions for evil whyte folks. There might just be a skeleton or two in his closet that some folks might want to take a look at.

This tells me all I need to know about Hollywood and how low it has sunk. Joan Collins, 90, says Hollywood parties are “dull”, because of cancel culture. 😀 😀 😀

Afternoon All. Gorgeous sunny day here with a nice breeze. It is almost chilly inside with the windows open, but hot in the sun. Niiiiiiicce!
Not much news here except I read that UPS might be involved with a strike soon. I hope I can get that dress for my granddaughter delivered before that happens. 🙄 Well, hope you all enjoy the day.
