Good day to you, Stella! The sun is trying to shine here in the Panhandle. We had a thunder and lightning downpour around 3:30 AM. Woke me up with a start! Gee ran to hide in the closet. I set up a bed on a small cabinet in there and that’s his sanctuary for all kinds of traumas including family visiting. He’s my darling but slightly odd little buddy.

I was in Cologne in 1968, and saw some of the devastation still in piles of rubble on the sidewalks and in buildings. They were rebuilding all-new as fast as they could. In the attached pictures you can see how the city was flattened, and little of the old buildings remained.
The cathedral was hit by 14 bombs ,partially because it was a great targeting spot: right next to the main railroad station and tracks, and downtown (a goal was to drive people out of the cities because they had no housing). We could not go in then, as it was still rather a ruin. That was only 23 years after the end of the war.

I’m surprised, however, that there were still piles of rubble around Cologne in 1968. The U.S. sent something like $3-4 billion under the Marshall Plan to get the western part of Germany (later the Federal Republic of Germany) back on its feet. Clean-up would have been a major business. Germany lost a lot of civilians (nowhere near the amount of civilians they killed, though); so work might have been slow because of manpower lacks, I suppose.

Scan of Titanic reveals wreck as never seen before

“The world’s most famous shipwreck has been revealed as never seen before. The first full-sized digital scan of the Titanic, which lies 3,800m (12,500ft) down in the Atlantic, has been created using deep-sea mapping. It provides a unique 3D view of the entire ship, enabling it to be seen as if the wayer has been drained. The hope is that this will shed new light on exactly what happened to the liner, which sank in 1912 – killing 1,500 people.”

Mornin wee and all ya’all! Another bright, sunny morning, coolish because it rained a lot yesterday afternoon so the temp dropped dramatically and stayed down till dusk. But it will get hot by lunch, 90 probably. We have had 4 days with 1 1/2 inches of rain in a short period each afternoon.

Yes, ma’am! I’ve had a productive day so far…took lots of trash out. Got my mail. Received two mail order deliveries, wore my new straw hat outside for the first time, polished off a very small head of lettuce/tuna/cheddar cheese for lunch, continued cleaning the master bedroom, went through several hat boxes searching for donations to the animal shelter thrift shop, did all the usual stuff with emails/articles/videos…and it’s only 4:10 my time…now am ready for a nap.

Did we really need a National No Dirty Dishes Day (???). However, National Cheese Soufflé Day sounds ok. I used to make soufflés, then decided they were way too much work for the outcome, and switched to quiches. Or just scrambled eggs and omelets with leftovers in them…

After the release of the Durham report detailing, among other things, the FBI’s key role in the Russian Collusion hoax, the bureau has faced severe criticism, but it appears unfazed.
Instead of engaging in some much-needed introspection — much less the thorough housecleaning that it so desperately requires to cleanse it of its deep corruption and politicization — the FBI has scheduled a “Happiness Seminar” for the end of this month. This is designed to help agents who may be weary after all their hard work of framing a president for a crime he didn’t commit to “discover the power of smiling.”
Isn’t it comforting to know that your tax dollars are going for such an urgent necessity as teaching corrupt Biden regime FBI agents to break out into big, wide grins?

Afternoon All. It is almost 2:30 here and 80*, but overcast. This week the weather has been like Florida in the winter. I finally took the flannel sheets off my bed and put on some plain ones. I also put away my winter gowns for the summer.
Still waiting to get this lease mess settled. I will be glad to have it finished. I am checking into some agencies that might be helpful, too. My doctor’s office has been a really big source of information. I spoke to one nurse who says she is the doctor’s problem solver. She talked to me for almost an hour and gave me a lot of helpful information. She also gave me her direct number and told me to call if I have any more questions. I have a feeling I have chosen the right doctor.

Afternoon, aus! Your doctor’s nurse sounds like a keeper. Wish more doctor offices had an advocate-type nurse to give suggestions on how to make seniors’ lives better.
