Today’s Twitter pick . . . Covid vaccine edition

Two passengers aboard the first fully-vaccinated cruise ship in North America have tested positive for COVID-19. My guesses are that either the tests given are faulty (most likely), or the vaccine didn’t work, or the two people (traveling together) lied about their status.

NOTE: Any of these possibilities may be true. Vaccines are never 100% effective, and the PCR tests are definitely not 100% correct. Since they have no symptoms …

Celebrity Millennium issued this statement Thursday:

“Today two guests sharing a stateroom onboard Celebrity Millennium tested positive for COVID-19 while conducting the required end of cruise testing. The individuals are asymptomatic and currently in isolation and being monitored by our medical team. We are conducting contact tracing, expediting testing for all close contacts and closely monitoring the situation.

Celebrity Millennium is sailing with fully vaccinated crew and guests and following comprehensive protocols that align with our destination partners and exceed CDC guidelines to protect the health and safety of our guests. All guests on Celebrity Millennium were required to show proof of vaccination as well as a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours before sailing from St. Maarten this past Saturday. This situation demonstrates that our rigorous health and safety protocols work to protect our crew, guests and the communities we visit.”

Well, this tells me I won’t be doing any cruising any time soon. My friend wants to go so badly. I told her I wouldn’t even consider it until next year. I don’t even want to be tested until they have the tests to the point where they can be trusted to be correct.

The BS meter is pegging. Vaccinating? Not getting jabbed. Trying to force me to get “real ID.” Well my DD214 is real enough for me, paid my dues in full,my money will spend just as nice elsewhere! Don’t need to fly or to cruise on a ship! Federal building? Well maybe I won’t go to court! Masks? Don’t and won’t wear ’em! Censored? Just go elsewhere! I don’t want or need this extraneous BS! Get the h3ll out of my life! Had enough!!!!!

My ex turned me on to ’em, can’t get enough of them. Smart too, as well as good with kids. Lost him back on Pearl Harbor Day. Not easy seein’ a 70 year old shed so many tears. We were that close! He was my life for almost 15 years. I thank our Heavenly Father for that time and finding a way to get us together! I have a gut feeling that Karma was a huge factor. Thank you kindly for that comment!

I’m sorry for your loss. I lost my 14-year old Brittany a few years ago, and got Tucker afterwards for company. Doesn’t make up for the loss, though.

Oh yes, I know what your mean. Our Gracie turns 9 years old in August. She is in great shape, walks 3-4 miles every single day with DH, which is great for both of them. I so hope we have 5 or 6 more years with her, as you did with your boy. They are such a blessing!

I have a real I.D. All it is is an enhanced driver’s license. You have to provide proof that you are a citizen*. Since I live within 20 miles of the Canadian border, it allows me to travel to Canada without a passport. I got it for my convenience. I think I mentioned that I have also been vaccinated. I don’t apologize for it, nor am I sorry I did it. It seems like the right decision for me, considering my age and physical condition.

Of course, you will make the decisions that are right for you – Just make sure you aren’t cutting off your nose to spite your face, as they say. Don’t let anger and fear make your decisions for you.

As I mentioned in the post, there is no vaccine that is 100% effective, so it is possible that these folks were vaccinated. My guess is that the tests they were given were wrong. Those tests are notoriously unreliable.

*You have to provide proof of citizenship or that you are in the country legally, as well as proof of residency in the state. Real I.D. is not mandatory.

To clarify: I have an enhanced driver’s license, which is also a Real I.D. My enhanced driver’s license allows me to cross into the U.S. when traveling by sea or land from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean nations without the need for a passport or other identification documents.

I have my original Birth Certificate and one that has an embossed stamp on it. If that good enough, pardon me! A DD214 shows I paid my dues! Don’t need a Drivers License that any more enhanced and cost more money. It’s only good for what, a couple of years? No thank you, I like vanilla!

Of course that’s your choice. If you don’t need one, then that’s the logical solution. In my case, it makes sense to have one, because it isn’t as expensive as a passport, which I would otherwise need to cross the Canadian border. I have a birth certificate too, but it doesn’t have my photo on it. Passports and enhanced driver’s licenses are no more evil that photo identification for voting, in my view. Do you refuse to offer i.d. to vote?

Why is there no vaccine for Scarlet Fever?

    From Mayo Clinic-
“…if left untreated, scarlet fever can result in more-serious conditions that affect the heart, kidneys and other parts of the body.”
    https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/scarlet-fever/symptoms-causes/syc-20377406

Entire homes were quarantined for Scarlet Fever, no one allowed to leave. The doctor made house visits.
I know this as I had it, and a heart murmur as proof.

So why is there no vaccine for Scarlet Fever?

Penicillin. An effective treatment. No vaccine required.

Why are we focusing on some dumb vaccine for CCP Virus when there are effective treatments available?
Why didn’t the cruise line quarantine the couple and give them HCQ w/azithromycin and niacin, or Ivermectin?

    Curious

Scarlet Fever can be treated with Penicillin because it is caused by bacteria. Covid is a virus, and viruses aren’t treated with antibiotics. I had strep throat (same bacteria) and was treated by penicillin and had an allergic reaction! May or may not still be allergic.

The people who tested positive have no symptoms and it isn’t clear that they even have Covid.

ADD: We don’t know whether or not they are receiving treatment by drug therapy or not. They are under medical care.
