Thalidomide worked great for severe morning sickness (hyperemesis gravidarum). Took a decade for the causal relationship to babies born without arms and/or legs to finally be recognized.

I had hyperemesis gravidarum the first trimester of my pregnancy. Thought I would die. My doctor gave me B12 shots which made it manageable (meaning that I could keep food down – most of the time). Fortunately thalidomide was never legal in the USA.
