Urban Survival: Quick Tips to Stay Alive in the City

Let’s face it; everyone who is a survivalist thinks they are MacGyver.
To be fair, some are…but most aren’t.

Lot of good tips there, Lucille; many apply to we rural dwellers, like storing food and having a wood burning stove available.

I’m not aware of anyone, anywhere commenting on or asking questions about the fact that there has been no State of the Union Address and there has been no information provided regarding the lack of an invitation from the joint Houses of Congress (traditionally extended to POTUS) to speak to a joint session.
It’s fairly easy to assume the reasons for the left not wanting their boy crashing and burning on that very public season. But I am curious about the apparent lack of curiosity about how those decisions were made, who made them, and why.
Has Tucker Carlson mentioned it? Has anyone mentioned it? Maybe I just missed it.
During the 10 days of enforced blackout on all sources of news (due to electrical and internet outage) I did learn that my knowledge or lack of knowledge about what was going on had absolutely no impact on what was happening! My actual functioning in the present was (forcibly) enhanced. I hope I can implement that lesson here and there…..

I don’t believe that there is a State of the Union address when the President has just been inaugurated.

You were right. Trump gave a speech on Feb. 28, 2017. I guess not every newly-inaugurated President gives a speech. Somebody on Twitter said that PBS was advertising it.

Found a list of SOTU speeches:

the larger search result has entries saying there would be one:

Oh, well. Not my president. I am willing and waiting for him to completely crash and burn in the most public way possible.
I saw an article somewhere this morning (Breitbart or PJM?) indicating that the democrats are preparing a bill/regulation thing that prevents POTUS from launching nuclear weapons on his own. Apparently they ARE willing to let it be known that they know he is demented.

It will soon be an in-your-face thing to acknowledge his dementia. The attitude will be, “Yeah, and what are you going to do about it?”
When your party is unethical and controls everything federal, they can just have the puppet master continue being President without being elected. I saw a video the other day which named the puppet master but I don’t remember either the name or the video (big help, huh!…but people do know who he is).

Some clarification re “State of the Union” vs. “Address to Joint Congress” over the decades….from Red State
https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2021/02/25/what-happened-to-joe-bidens-state-of-the-union-address-n332550

“Generally, the State of the Union address is delivered in late January to early February.
“But in the first year that someone is in office, they officially call it an ‘address to the joint session of Congress’ not a State of the Union, although most people still refer to it as a “state of the union.” It’s often been a little later, likely giving the person the chance to actually evaluate things a little bit first. Barack Obama’s speech was on February 24. Donald Trump’s was on February 28.
“So, again, we go back to that question: where’s Biden’s speech?
“What’s sort of interesting about this question is that Joe Biden himself apparently indicated to reporters that it would be in February, that he wanted to talk about COVID relief, according to Axios.”
So maybe there is a “there” there…..

That is so true. My friend keeps up only by asking me about things she has heard about. She just wants to know if they are true or not. She says following all the news only upsets her since there is nothing she can do about it.

It doesn’t upset me, per se. I just realize how useless it is. Over the decades, I realize I have placed a lot of value in understanding/knowing what is going on around me, and now I’m realizing the limited usefulness of that.
When authoritarians are running things, our votes are no longer used to determine governance. Knowing who is doing what diabolical thing is not as useful as it used to be.
The partisans in the forests of Europe sifted very carefully which things were important to know, even they chased down the useful information regarding train schedules, etc. They did not stop pursuing their goals, but they chose very carefully how to use their time and their lives.

If anyone comments on Gateway Pundit would you please consider putting in a comment on this report –
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/02/update-new-hampshire-attorney-generals-office-wants-take-custody-windham-voting-machines-take-away-audit/
I tried to comment, but do not have an account, and can’t find anywhere to even send an email to Gateway to clarify their news report.
People are commenting without reading any of the links to GraniteGrok dot com that explain what’s really going on. Many people commenting think it is a good thing for the AG’s office to take the machines & cards from Windham where they are locked in the town safe because he is a “republican”. It is not. For years viable, proven cases of voter fraud have sat in boxes in the AG’s office without being investigated. The NH Senate passed a bill 24-0 that the Windham election should be investigated, but the citizen’s of Windham have it set up to be audited fully, transparently, and bipartisanly here in Windham. Tomorrow the AG’s office plans to take the machines up to Concord to do what with them? They had their chance to audit and it was not truly transparent, and we don’t know how many ballots were tested.
We do NOT want the AG to take the voting machines out of Windham. We the citizens of Windham need to audit them ourselves here. The AG’s office and any other state gov’t official is welcome to come and watch us. Many commenters think it is good for the AG to take them and it is not!
imho the actual citizens of every town can and should audit their elections themselves. If every town did it, it would be harder for the gov’t to stop rather than 1 little town in 1 little state.
For further info on this go to GraniteGrok dot com. The audit method we will be using is listed in detail.
Thank you.

Wish I could help you re posting your comments at GatewayPundit. Be nice to subscribe to all the sites I visit each day, but the costs would be humongous. For Gateway Pundit, If I paid $1 for every time I use the site, I’d owe a bundle at the end of the year. So the price for a year’s subscription for commenting isn’t that much if I look at it that way. But in reality, $159.99 per year for full access is steep. Having the added knowledge that I’m helping a site which is useful would be pleasing. But, still…even the lesser price of $79.99 per year for partial access is too much.
Comment sections are usually the items which make me the most annoyed anyway. Stella’s site is the only one where I read every comment and don’t go screaming into the night.
As dumb as it sounds, I can’t figure out how to register at CTH and so don’t comment and, frankly, don’t go there for days on end. I’ve tried clicking on the “subscribe” button, but nothing happens; and it probably has to do with my ancient programming. It’s like something that used to be a necessary part of my everyday life isn’t anymore.
My old programming is increasingly failing me as so many sites, even ones I need like my security protection!!!, cannot be connected to. Yesterday I received a notice that my information has been found on the Dark Web. I tried to check out the info, but the links to get into the site were blocked and I couldn’t bypass the block. So I called them…LOL, what an experience…bounced from person to person, having to answer the same questions over and over, not being able to understand the accents of those trying to be of help…ended up with me laughing at the absurdity of it all. But I did eventually (45 minutes later) get an answer to my inquiry.
Someday when winter is over and I have some knowledgeable person to accompany me, I’ll go to the Apple store and get a new hard drive. The old one is updated to the extend it can be. Until then, I’ll just have to put up with all the trials and tribulations…LOL! If at some future date I haven’t shown up for months, you’ll know either my hard drive has bit the dust or I have. LIFE!

I’ve tried simply hitting a reply button to answer someone’s post, but nothing happens then either. At WordPress a whole section pops up and you type in your comment then fill in your email plus user name and hit “post comment”…or at least that’s what I do. I don’t go in through WordPress registration as I’m too chicken to risk messing up my entry to the site. LOL! Is being fearful of trying new things a sign of dementia?

“don’t go screaming into the night”.
I hear you! The number of people that read the Gateway article and didn’t read the links to GraniteGrok for the ACTUAL information so they get it all wrong and are screaming for the opposite of what’s needed is astounding to me. Really – read the darn basic info links before you form an opinion.
As to the cost – I never knew it was like that – that you had to pay all that money. I only comment here and occasionally at the Grok because I just don’t have the time.
I also gave up on the Treehouse. I will pop in to look at headlines, but the comments, especially due to the small times new roman font, I can’t read. I gave up on trying to comment. I don’t understand how I can see 134 comments then 56 comments.
“Yesterday I received a notice that my information has been found on the Dark Web.” That’s scary! I had a similar experience trying to sign up for Lifelock. After hours and hours over 2 days of being forwarded back and forth between sales and tech support we gave up.
Your hard drive biting the dust we can all deal with – YOU – NO! don’t say that!

Aw, thanks! I near-on bought the farm yesterday when Miss Bee decided to dart in front of me. By a fraction of an inch I missed stepping right on her paws and crashing headlong into a heavy wood trunk I use as a coffee table. Thank God I was able to keep upright since I use a cane walking around the apartment and also grabbed onto a metal breakfast cart, though knocking over a decoration.
I screamed so shrilly and the noise of the falling decoration was loud enough that a minute later my neighbor was calling to see if I was OK. Ordinarily we can’t hear anything because our duplex soundproofing is so excellent. Most of the time it’s hard to tell anyone even lives next door.
Two unpredictable little darlings in the house can be a challenging situation at times. Bless their precious hearts.

Thank you for reading and linking to this.
The AG’s office has TEMPORARILY withdrawn their request to take possession of the machines and cards until Senate Bill 43 has been signed into law. SB43 was passed 24-0, and now it goes to the house. The NH house has 400 members, so I’m not sure if it will move through as quickly as it did through the senate, and more importantly what CHANGES will be made to it. One change we all will be contacting our reps about is that the machines and cards stay in Windham, the audit is completely transparent as we want, and only impartial people approved by both sides who have NOT previously handled them actually handle them now.

Afternoon Everyone. Hot and sunny here today. After our morning walk, Loki and I took a 2 hr nap. I didn’t think I was that tired, but evidently I needed to sleep. I called the office about the dog attack and gave them the owner’s address. She said they do not have a dog registered. I figured. I may get some blowback from them for turning them in. I probably wouldn’t have if the woman had taken responsibility and come out for the dog. But, she never did even come out.
Well, anyway, it appears that the weather has gotten better across the country. Hope it stays this way. Enjoy the day.

One thing about Dersh is that though he is on the left, he loves the law. He may think we are all wet on any number of things (as I think he is on a number of things), but he wants consistency and equality under the law. Generally, he follows the letter of the law as it is written, not as folks wish it to be.

A friend suggested this as the warm up act for President Trump’s CPAC speech:
Twisted Sister’s version of “We’re Not Gonna To Take It”
Basic Lyrics:
We’re not gonna take it
No, we ain’t gonna take it
We’re not gonna take it anymore
We’ve got the right to choose and
There ain’t no way we’ll lose it
This is our life, this is our song
………
You are welcome to make your own suggestion since millions of people will be watching.
I am sure President Trump will pick the one that best matches the tenor of his speech.
