Parler is now silenced; Amazon pulled the plug last night. The CEO of Parler says that they are having trouble getting another company to host them. Anyone with enough server capacity has joined with Amazon, Apple and Google to make sure that they are silenced. Even their attorneys have severed their relationship with Parler.
CNBC reports:
John Matze, the founder and CEO, said in a statement on Monday that the Parler app will be down “longer than expected” because other cloud hosting companies do not want to work with Parler in light of the press statements issued by Amazon, Google and Apple.
“We will likely be down longer than expected,” wrote Matze. “This is not due to software restrictions — we have our software and everyone’s data ready to go. Rather it’s that Amazon’s, Google’s and Apple’s statements to the press about dropping our access has caused most of our other vendors to drop their support for us as well.”
He added: “Most people with enough servers to host us have shut their doors to us. We will update everyone and update the press when we are back online.”
The irony is Amazon’s reasoning for withdrawing their services is enough to make your head spin around. Listen to this:
AWS told Parler in the email that it had flagged 98 examples to Parler of posts that “clearly encourage and incite violence.” Among the posts it reported to Parler, which were viewed by CNBC, users on the platform made violent threats directed at “liberal leaders, liberal activists #blm leaders and supporters,” in addition to other groups.
Matze condemned the tech giants’ moves in a series of posts on Parler over the weekend, claiming that his platform had removed its violent content and adding that its community guidelines don’t allow Parler to be knowingly used for criminal activity.
In other words, Amazon is holding Parler responsible for what users post, even though they are protected – just as Twitter, Facebook and all other social media companies are – because they are not publishers, and even though their terms of service do not allow criminal activities on their site.
Having seen what I have on Twitter – posts by the Ayatollah of Iran and the Chinese government, as well as outright pornography – isn’t it time to withdraw government protection for ALL social media companies?
There is no reason why social media organizations that pick & choose which speech they allow to be protected by the liability protections in 47 US Code Section 230.
230 must be repealed.
Steve Bannon has been yelling for years to make these guys utilities. Everyone screamed “Muh Free Market.” Bannon was fired and found another billionaire to grift.
Matze said they have all their data. Stella, you know the work entailed to move next-door. Think Matze had time to grab all his data from the Bezos’ cloud? With Bezos throttling Matze’s pipe?
This will take time, but don’t count out the technoids. They are never not-busy –

This would be the perfect opportunity for Trump to start (fund) his own platform, as he has stated he would at times…you think?

He said that he will. That can’t happen over night. He would have to have his own server farm. I imagine that doesn’t exist at the moment, which means that he will have to find a company willing to sell him the equipment. Then there is the software, which also doesn’t exist at the moment.

Those are actually secondary. First he needs to find a network provider to sell him space on their pipe – AT&T, Verizon, etc. Difficult, but doable. Heck, the Saudis may even do it.
And don’t forget, Obama gave away DNS responsibility to the world. Perhaps that’s a good thing now.
There are other things happening as well.. It just takes some time.
Not over.

What a day! We were struggling all day, while deploying 10 new servers, scaling up our database, and optimizing various features… Even with that, 600k new users managed to sign up. As of 3am, the site is running pretty good. Tomorrow we keep scaling. Welcome to all the new gabbers!

Deep Pockets vs. Virtual Nobody in comparison.
And the GOPe crowd cowering in their homes, having left WDC for their holiday, can do nothing, will say nothing, don’t want to be involved, and figure laying low means no one will notice them. Useless, spineless and pathetic. Expect the same should patriotic Americans ask for help.

There are four boxes to be used in the defense of liberty:
soap – Twitter, FB etc. banning conservatives?
Check.
ballot – Fraudulent election?
Check.
jury – Parler sues Amazon for antitrust violation
Lucille says: “Deep Pockets vs. Virtual Nobody in comparison.”?
Check.
and ammo, Please use in that order.
Well Okay then.

Please don’t even give the tiniest impression that violence is okay. Be careful. I do not condone it.

Sorry, –
Would the original quote, which I believe is from Larry McDonald (1935–1983)
have been alright?

Former NYPD Commish Bernard Kerrick addressed this on his radio show last Sat.
Commish Kerrick said, having spent the last 8 weeks in D.C., his eyes had been opened.
Everyone in D.C. was looking out for themselves. Not one had a thought about the folks who sent them there.
The Democrats were evil, and Commish Kerrick had never seen such a bunch of spineless jellyfish as the Republicans.
Commish Kerrick felt dirty just being around them, dirty as in needing a shower dirty.

I find this so scary. Jack and Zuck are more powerful than the US government. They are monopolies that need to be broken up. I think that’s more important than 230.

You are feeling their fear, bleuwater. They were scared to death on 6 Jan 2021, like a cornered animal.
Things will right themselves in time, as they always do.
