It’s Caturday!
This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Bookmark the permalink.
I gots 22 pounds of the cutest orange ho-ho-ho stretched out in the space between my bod and left arm. He’s got his nose buried in between his paws in that praying position. And I’ve got to go to the bathroom….but maybe not all that bad…

Yup, bottom one has a sharp resemblance to our couch.

I like the Samoyed with the grey cat, I can imagine both of them shedding on each other.

Hahahaha! Too bad we can’t gather all the shed fur and sell it to a weaver.

We had a Samoyed in the 50s and it had to be combed out every other day or so, but even then you’d find big doggie dust bunnies rolling thru the house. The Samoyedic people used to comb them out, spin the hair and make clothes out of the hair…sorta like meat eating sheep.

Samoyedic women in traditional dress…

That white fluff could be spun/woven Sammy hair or they just didn’t brush the misc hair off after sleeping with the dogs. BTW, if you’ve ever had one you know you’ll spend about as much of the time trying to throw your Sammy out of bed as you do combing it. Seems they were bred to sleep with their people to keep them warm…nothing like a huge, hairy scrubby pad wrapped up around you on a summer nite.

LOL! The black and white terrier type who lived with me for 17 years always slept in the small of my back when he was allowed up on the bed. Luckily he didn’t weigh much and I could pick him up and put him out of the room when necessary.

We had to put up a baby gate to keep our 40-pound terrierista from slinking into the bedroom and oooooozing into bed ewith us. We have a queen size bed but 40 pounds of dog and 22 pounds of cat (more if the black and white cat decides to grace us) is a bit much.

I saw a website once where you could send your cat hair and have it spun into yarn. She would even make felt or knit you a handbag!

How neat! I could have had 25-30 nice little handbags by now…or more! LOL!

I guess if they can do it with sheep, llamas, alpacas etc, spinning cat or dog hair is possible!

When we lived at the cabin I used to brush my black lab out in front of the house. It looked like black snow was all over the yard. I thought our Golden Retrivers shed a lot until we got the Lab and the German Shepherd.

Empty feelin’ this mornin’, my avatar crossed that rainbow bridge yesterday. Almost fifteen years together! Longest I’ve ever had a companion (that spells God backwards.) Never in God’s creation did I think I would ever be so attached to one! He was magnificent. The love he showed me was a real eye opener. One could learn a lot from that, just hope I can hold a candle to that! What was a give away, was he was born on Christmas day! Somethin’ mighty special about that! Thanks for lettin’ me vent a little feeling! I needed that.

Dogs make great co-pilots, Pa Hermit. The proof is when they’re gone. I can’t recall one time when any of mine were ever mad at me. ever. ever.
Sorry my friend.

Pa, I know how bad this hurts. My boy Skippy crossed the rainbow bridge in 2012. Am just now starting to think about rescuing an older dog scheduled to be put down. I am thinking we can get older together and rescue each other. God bless and comfort you.

That’s where we’re at. We figure that our age we’d best spend our time with older dogs, no sense getting something that will outlive us and there are plenty of old dogs that still have a lot to give.

I know how that feels. May your heartache turn to fond memories very soon.

We’ve lost so many over the years, after long lives that may have been a bit too long after we work so hard to keep them around. Every one is its own special memory and hurt.
L’m not suggesting a replacement, each is irreplaceable, but there’s always a new companion out there that needs someone who’ll really cherish it.

I’m so sorry. I lost my Black Lab some months ago. He was one of my great, great loves.

It’s official, the demon spawn is trying to ‘off me’….First it was the sculpture that he pushed off the headboard and then last night I woke to find him trying to knock down a painting that I have hanging at the head of the bed.
Hopefully the velcro strips I added this morning will prove to be life-saving and hopefully I’ve thwarted his plans for another day….There’s nothing worse than an intelligent cat….:0)
