Never MY favorite Christmas carol (probably because the year I learned it, our children’s church choir seem to always sing slightly flat) it is nevertheless a favorite of many. This is, in my opinion, one of the best versions.

As a child, every year ABC affiliate Channel 5 WEWS teamed up with the Higbee Company who also sponsored Mr Jingaling, and presented children’s Christmas programming, which was Christian-themed, of course.
One of the presentations every year was Amahl and the Night Visitors. The story was basically the story of the Little Drummer Boy and the Little Drummer Boy’s playing of his drums for the Baby Jesus, followed by something like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing the Little Drummer Boy.
As a little kid who basically possessed nothing, the story became personal and really hit home.
Which is why the song The Little Drummer Boy remains my fav carol.
