There are several words that I have trouble with: successful, communicate, assumed. I have to look them up or spellcheck them any time I write them. I have just forgotten how to spell them correctly.

Good that you have the habit of looking it up when you aren’t sure. I do that too. It is something that I drilled into my daughter when she was in high school and had (believe it or not) an English teacher who told her that spelling isn’t important.

That is why our children are not learning…….they are not be taught.

I find it very irritating that I look at the word and know it is spelled wrong but can’t figure out the correct spelling. That is where the computer really comes in handy. It is easy to google the word.

Mornin’ all. Overcast here with an expectation of rain for the next few days. The only one who will care is Loki since she doesn’t like to go out in the rain. I have no idea why. She was so excited this morning, she got the zoomies even before our morning walk today. I take her out for a long walk as soon as we get up. However, later in the day, if it is raining when I let her out…..she does a uie and comes right back in quickly. LOL

I think my ballot is in the mail today. I am getting something from the FL gov. Good, I have been waiting for it. I just want to make sure my vote counts.

I ordered a new recliner, taking a chance, from Amazon and received it yesterday. I did it because I finally decided my little recliner has just broken down and doesn’t support my back like it should. I just haven’t been able to get over this lower back and hip problem. Anyway, the chair was on sale and they gave me a coupon for another $15 off and the total cost was under $200. 😯 It is taller, firmer, and more supportive than my old chair. I am so pleased with it. Already I think it will help. I am determined to get better. I had been to all the stores around here and tried all the recliners and they weren’t at all what I was looking for. Glad I took a chance on this one.

Hope and pray that our President and his family and all the people who surround him get over this COVID thing quickly. And, everybody have a great day.

They bring it in for you?

No. Grrrrrr. It was Fed Ex and I don’t even think they knocked on the door. I didn’t hear them and Loki didn’t react. There were two boxes and one was about 4 ft x 3 ft or something like that. It was the bottom of the chair with all the metal weight. I couldn’t even move the box. The other one was the back of the chair and I was able to bring it in myself. I called the young man that helped me with my mattress who had offered to help if I needed it. He brought it in, carried it like it weighed nothing. 🙄 and helped me put it together. He is such a sweetie.

Several things I noticed about this chair. It is taller than my old one. It is easier for me to just stand up out of it. I was having trouble getting out of the old one and had to push on the arms to get up and then my hips seemed locked up for a minute. That isn’t happening with this one. I am so hopeful.

What would we do without our helpful neighbors?

How great to find a recliner which fits. Sort of a miracle! LOL! Hopefully it will relieve your back and hip. It’s so wonderful to have helpful neighbors who assist when needed.

Before my pal next door moved to Arizona because he didn’t want to spend another winter slogging through snow, he always helped me with heavier items. Now there’s no one strong enough who lives around me in the senior complex.

In California, having lived in the same house from 1982-2008, I knew every single person on my cul-de-sac block and saw their kids grow up, go to college, get married and have their own children. It was a REAL neighborhood. What a blessing that was! Sometimes I wish I hadn’t moved and other times I’m real glad because of the mess CA is now.

I think it is a nice dilemma of sorts – – – that no matter where we live, there are the pluses and the minuses. There’s always.good stuff. And then there’s the other stuff!

At this time of the year, heading deeper into October, I cannot begin to explain how deep-grateful I am that I am not in West Central Minnesota that is always in that arrowhead of blistering cold weather (it’s purple on the weather maps, I think!) that comes from the Arctic, across Canada, into Minnesota – any time from October through March. I sure do like having seasons, but having to plan on 30 (or 40) below zero for a part of every winter (with or without much notice) can kill ya dead if you’re not paying attention. Serious business.

I am SO glad not to be facing that.

            Really.

In other good news: On Monday, I will sign the closing papers for the refinance on my house – didn’t take anything out, just refinanced the balance to get lower interest. Never knew I would live long enough to have a 2.875 interest rate. And it reduces my payment by over $100 a month….good times….

I received my sample ballot (Oregon) today – where we have mail-in-voting only.

I was glad to see this information on page 17:

    “Postmarks DO NOT count

“In Oregon, an Elections Official must have your ballot by 8:00 P.M. on Election Night. If your ballot is still with the Post Office after 8:00 P.M. on Election Nithe (bold)….your vote will not count. (end bold)

“Postmarks DO NOT count for ballots in Oregon!

“If we have not received your ballot by 8:00 P>M> on Election Night, your vote will not count.”

I like the repetition, although I don’t know exactly what that may mean.
