BUT!…..Was the pictured sloop USS Constellation really launched in September 1797 as a frigate, making her the oldest ship in the US Navy, beating the USS Constitution to launch by a month?????
Actually inquiring minds don’t want to know unless those minds are Navy minutiae geeks.

See if this helps (I use an iPad) Go down the right side of any page to Meta and log in. Every post after that, until you close the site, should have your avitar. The only confusion is after you sign in, the WordPress announcement states you do not have dashboard privileges: just press Stellasplace in blue and it will open to the blog.

I had the same problem on my Mac for weeks, then all of a sudden the problems stopped. I still have no idea why or what happened. Not that this will help, but just know that you are not alone. Some sort of an Apple thing, it appears. During this same time, I also had problems with Disqus as well. Someone needs to build an OS that never has to be updated and “improved”. I’m old, and change is not always good! 😉

WordPress is definitely part of the problem too.

Nope. Not a Mac thing. I have microsoft and it has happened a couple of times like that. I think they are doing it on purpose.

And Apple stuff is still way less trouble than Microsoft products.

That is what my son tells me. And, he pointed out that I am spending money every year on the Geek Squad that I could put into a Mac. So, if I can’t put crutches on this, I may go ahead and buy a Mac with the money Pres. Trump sent me.

I have to say that I don’t have problems with Microsoft’s recent products. I DO have a really good Web protection product installed, which eliminates a lot.

The fact that whistleblowers in the Fed are thrown under the nearest bus is a long established fact in DC. Ernest Fitzgerald exposing the almost 300% price increase in the C5 aircraft program in ’68 was the first biggie I remember. He blew the whistle on an almost $3-billion scam, thereby giving a case of the red patoot to a lot of connected people in the incestuous government/industry relationship. Fitzgerald had the entire weight of the government come down on him, they even reorganized the section of the DoD he worked in just to get rid of his job and him. He was ruined.
Some years later the so-called ‘Whistleblower Law’ was written to try and prevent that from happening again but, as with many laws, it was mostly sizzle and no steak. What happened was the whistleblower attacks went underground and through the loopholes in the law, Fed employees and contract personnel still know that if they dare to ‘tell’ they’ll be crucified and no one will dare come to their aid and it’s happened dozens of times to big squealers and countless times to the ones in the trenches.
The government regularly ignores the laws and it can, they are the ones who wrote the laws to deal with their bad behaviors and the ones who enforce the laws they wrote to control their bad behaviors…just in case you ever wondered what a ‘self-licking ice cream cone’ was. Those of in Civil Service saw abuse almost daily but knew that were anyone to report it the connected system would concentrate on eliminating you and not the ‘problem’, it’s only a problem to you, it’s the culture to them.
The IRS became a weapon under Hoover who used it to get Al Capone, it wasn’t long after that the higher-ups picked up on that and gave it a stage all of its own. The FBI still uses it but as an equal agency with as much power (or more) than the Bureau. The IRS can start an investigation, freeze your assets for an indefinite time and keep you squirming on a pike for longer than the Bureau and with less of a reason. The IRS takes you into tax court and uses a lesser level of ‘evidence’ to ruin you as effectively as if the DoJ had run you through the regular court system. The government’s become a weapon used against the people it’s supposed to serve.

Good day to you, WeeWeed! Wow, whole groups of dishonorable people getting away with everything so far. What’s the next step? Hopefully, Steven Mnuchin and Charles Rettig (President Trump’s Internal Revenue Commissioner since 2018) know about this and are doing something. Our President can’t handle everything on his own.
That urge to just sail away has popped up again…not a whole lot to be disillusioned by when you’re at sea and forever meandering from one beautiful place to another. I’d sure like to try that remedy….

No wonder this Attorney is a multi millionaire. This is the perfect guy to fight that scum bag Racist St. Louis Circuit Attorney General Kimberly Gardner.
If that idiot low IQ CAG Kimberly Gardner decides to prosecute the McCloskeys, what is ” I see a large malicious prosecution lawsuit in her future.”
At what point will Trump Derangement syndrome stop be used as an unquestionable yet closeted defense by this vicious mob of officials?
Notice that McCloskey is so good that his attorney never stops him even once.
One criticism even if his wife was super nervous (understandably) she needs a whole lot of range time and training, she had her finger on the the trigger and was holding it with one hand. If she shot that gun she would have missed her target and there is a 99% chance the gun would have bucked out of her hand and that would be that. Weaver stance lady.

Prosecutors are pretty well shielded from lawsuits thanks to the SCOTUS. Just about 2 or so years ago the Orleans Parish DA was sued for knowingly suppressing exculpatory information in a case where the defendant was released once the evidence was brought to light. SCOTUS said that prosecutors have great latitude when it comes to making the state’s case. Sorta sends a shiver up your spine, doesn’t it?
One thing that the news didn’t mention was that the ‘demonstrators’ broke thru that gate they ‘entered’ and that it was a gated, limited access community. They also shouted threats that, had there been a police officer nearby, would have gotten some arrested for assault, their lives and safety were being threatened. News completely reenginerered the entire episode to make it look like the streets were public and the ‘protesters’ were harmless flower children.

The Democrats are milking these violent little turds to cause a lot of fear and unease before the elections, they’re playing this like they did the Leftist groups in the 60s and 70s.
Thing is they’re thinking that all they have to do is flip a switch and they’ll turn them off when they win this Fall. Give them some free stuff, pat them on the head and they’ll be happy and go home. The Democrats are hoping that the various Left/minority wranglers will stay in line and control their trolls but having tasted the power of the freerein the Rats have given them I don’t think they’ll be able to and it’s going to be a free-for-all.

Yep, I’ve been saying it for a long time, we haven’t seen anything yet, wait until the monster turns on its master. Though I don’t think the demoncrats will win in November.

The Party and its team have done a good job of keeping up the attacks against Trump for nearly 4 years, they have the resources and they seem willing to do anything – legal or not – to take the WH and Congress in November. I’m betting they’ll have a 1968 redux full court press starting September or October (at the latest) to create chaos in November.
Look at Congress now, they’re going to push hard to take the Senate so even if Trump wins it will be 4 years of the same. Even if the Senate stays the same they win the WH and the VP takes the Senate.

The democrats are fighting tooth and nail for their very survival, they’ve pulled out all stops, but there is a huge underground movement for President Trump. For Sanity.
The Democrat elites are cornered and they know it. Hopefully they’ll shred each other sooner rather than later.
Agreed it will be 4 years of the same f we don’t get a super majority.

The Rats are trying hard to separate issues and hammer each separate issue home to the interested parties. They are well aware of the move Trump pulled in 2016 and have poured money and work tirelessly into dissecting the various groups in those battleground states and targeting each according to its needs.
This is a fight to the death -either of us.

Democrats seem to be as immune to irony as they are to hypocrisy. He was nonplussed that he’d even done a lot of low-price and pro bono work for the people who were threatening him and his property.

This is called “red pilling” hard to say, but a whole lot of folks are getting the real kind of “woke” rather than the virtue signaling “woke”.
Time will tell. Let’s see if all those folks who called him to support him come out in his defense publicly, and if so let’s see how many of them end up dead.
What a world.

Mornin’ everyone. The weather report today is….hot and humid. Had a really nice day yesterday. Ran our errands, had lunch IN a restaurant, and then came back to my apt to watch The Thin Man, and The Thin Man Returns. She had never seen any of those movies and she just loved them. She really is missing being able to go to the theaters.

Our problem is we are stuck with what is showing on the channels, and the Netflix discs via the mail b/c we can’t stream. This leaves us out of the vast library of on demand movies and shows in Netflix, Hulu, etc. Really, though, I think your friend wants NEW movies, and there ain’t much out there yet.

I am actually chilly. It gets pretty cool sitting in my living room at this time of day. I think it is because the heat on the south side works its way in thru the uninsulated walls at this time of evening and the air conditioner is running like crazy. It is set on 77* and i don’t change because it is supposed to increase the cost of electricity and besides, it is only a couple of hours and I have a little light blanket to put over my legs.

Comment on Facebook by a cousin of mine today:
I went to my doctor for an unrelated issue today, we talked about masks and he said it’s stupid and “as ineffective as a screen door is to a garden hose” for a virus. He also said the numbers don’t warrant any of this behavior. All that said, he explained his position whilst wearing a mask, because his employer demands it. He is very angry with his profession because most are in agreement with him but none will group together and speak out.

In these days of REAL harassment, threats, doxxing and beatings, it’s easy to just hope all the evil will go away on its own, but it won’t.
So, what do we do? For me, the only memorable thing that Ralph Nader ever said was, “If you see something that needs to be done, then you must do it.” We recognize, however, that our cancel culture has all but eliminated the biggest “doer” in our nation today, President Trump…simply cancelled him out of the news cycle unless the scumedia can twist things against him…this despite all the good things he’s done and continues to do.
Again, what do we do? Do we pray for courage? Do we speak out even though it may have repercussions? It’s a tough decision. Not wanting to make the decision really isn’t an option anymore, not if we want to remain free.
Lord, have mercy upon us!
